Amazingly my Christmas holidays managed to be a lot more action-packed than I expected. If you follow me on Facebook, you might have noticed that our senior-citizen kitty became ill on Christmas Day. But she's pretty much all recovered, which is a real blessing as we head to the New Year.
And, no, my Christmas cards, though they are all made, are not yet in the mail. I'm really hoping that many of my family and friends celebrate the season until January 6th, which is a tradition in some cultures (add smiley face!)
But I also want to be on time with some Thank You Notes for some really thoughtful gifts I received this holiday. So while I'm sitting finishing up those cards, I can also finish up with the Thank Yous. It also happens that today is the day of the biweekly Stampin' Up! Only Challenge, so I was glad to be able to put the challenge to good use with a Thank You card.
The SUO Challenge this time is to use some of the Project Life by Stampin' Up! (PLxSU) products to make our project. Project Life is a unique way to help people such as I to make our scrapbooks easier and more reflective of our lives as they go on during the year. Because we don't have children at home and are not involved in any big winter holiday celebrations, I did not purchase the holiday version of the PLxSU. I decided to spend most of my creative time during the month making greeting cards.
But now as the new year begins, I will be doing more in the way of putting my scrap albums together, so I have purchased the soon-to-be-available, Let's Get Away Project Life Card Collection, along with the coordinating Project Life Accessory Kit. As neither of these products is available as I publish this, I don't have any links to purchase the products. But as soon as they are available – on January 6th! – I will add them here.
I think the main thing to notice here is that not all PLxSU cards have sayings or are journaling cards. This floral designed card is just that – a floral design. I didn't alter it in any way, except to cut it down to 3" x 4" (from its original 4" square size). The two little flower stickers on the sentiment layer are from the Accessory Pack, as is the little paper clip holding the Melon Mambo Cotton Ribbon in the upper left corner. Of course, these little clips are also available in the Basics Hodgepodge Clips collection of embellishments, which is the annual Stampin' Up! catalog.
To complement the dotted design in the background of the Project Life card, I texturized the Bermuda Bay Cardstock background with the Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder.
For the little sentiment layer, I stamped Thank You using the Four You Stamp Set, then die-cut it with one of the Labels Collection Framelits. These die sets are made so that we can mat a smaller shape with a larger shape. For this card, the next size up from the one that I used was just too large for my taste. So I laid the same framelit that I used for the die cut down on my Melon Mambo Cardstock and traced around the outside edge. I cut it out by hand and that made a mat that was just about the right size.
If you've ordered any Project Life by Stampin' Up! products – even if they're a digital version! – be sure to stop by the SUO Challenge blog to get some ideas about how you might use your products in a project. We'd love to have you enter the challenge!
