New Stamps 4: Watercolor Wings

Robin · June 19, 2015 ·

Aloha, all!

Throughut the Stampin' Up! 2015-2016 Annual Catalog, there are "Tips" and other hints for using stamps and other products in the catalog.  Last week, when I was going through the catalog trying to find something to copy for a challenge, I found suggestion:  "Try using just the outline stamp or just the solid stamp or use the together for more creative combinations."  This quote referred to the stamp set, Garden in Bloom, but it could refer to any similar set in the catalog collection, including the featured "New Stamp" in today's post, Watercolor Wings.

In fact, I featured BOTH of these stamp sets in this project, and for both I used only the solid stamp from the set.  The large butterfly on the top layer is from the Watercolor Wings stamp set, and the small butterfly repeated on the left set of layers is from Gardern in Bloom.

The one thing about this project that was most fun was that, not only was it a challenge, it was a challenge to use a sketch that I had included in a blog post three years ago! I actually could have just about repeated the whole design because the two main stamp sets in that card – Papillon Potpourri and Sassy Salutations – are still in the catalog.  But that would have required me to get away from my new stamp sets, and that's a no-no this month!

The colors I used for this card are my current go to colors, Watermelon Wonder and Cucumber Crush, both new 2015-2017 Stampin' Up! In Colors. As I was looking to see what I have planned in the way of blog posts over the next few weeks, I see that I have one more project using those colors coming up next week.  After that, they'll be scarce for a while. There really are other colors in the catalog!

To go with the colors, I added one of the Cucumber Crush sheets from the Cherry on Top Designer Series Paper Stack as the main background, and matted it with a bit of Watermelon Wonder cardstock before wrapping a piece of the Watermelon Wonder 1" Dotted Lace Trim.  The sentiment is also from the Watercolor Wings stamp set, and fit perfectly in the space allocated for it.  That always makes me happy.

Have a great weekend, everyone! And I hope you have a chance to do some paper crafting with some fun Stampin' Up! products!

Robin Messenheimer

I have been stamping and paper crafting for over 30 years, and have been an Independent Stampin' Up! Demonstrator for 10 years.

My favorite part of being a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator is teaching others to enjoy crafting themselves. Not only do I conduct classes in person, I write tutorials for teaching anyone who has internet access. No matter if you're in my area on the east side of Hawaii's Big Island or anywhere else in the world, let me know if there's something you'd like to learn!
