Just as I was about to spend a crafting day designing and crafting Thanksgiving cards, several events occurred that meant that I needed some quick all occasion cards. The "quick" was because I don't have that much time left to be making Thanksgiving cards, so I need to get to it!
The perfect place to go for quick all occasion cards is a Stampin' Up! kit. In this case, I grabbed the fabulous all-inclusive kit, Watercolor Wishes. The reason this is all inclusive is that it not only has the cards, envelopes, and embellishments – it also contains stamps and inks! Yup, two little ink spots in Night of Navy and Watermelon Wonder, and the Watercolor Wishes Stamp Set.
In no time at all I had the three cards I needed, and they're about to go into the mail today!
None of these cards is exactly as the kit instructions calls for them to be made. A couple of my customers and I opened the kit a couple of months ago when I first got it, and that was the start of using the kit's contents just the way we wanted them to be. Actually, today I would have been happy to make the cards just as they were designed so I didn't have to do too much thinking. But there I was making do with what I had. For this first card, I wanted to use the Watermelon Wonder ink for the sentiment, but there were no background layers available that were a good accent for it. So I cut my own layer of Watermelon Wonder Cardstock and then stamped away on one of the smaller layers from the kit. The flower and leaf looked like they were made for this card, so on they went!
It turned out that I did have all the pieces to make this card as in the booklet that comes with the kit. But I needed a Thank You Card, so out came the Thanks sentiment again, but this time stamped using Night of Navy Classic Ink.
Finally I made a card without the Thanks sentiment. This time I definitely did not have the pieces for this card, and nothing in the kit that's left seemed to go well with the blue and taupe color scheme on this card base. So again I pulled out my own papers, die-cutting a piece of Tip Top Taupe Cardstock for the background of the stamped element and Whisper White Cardstock to die-cut the sentiment. The die set I used was one that's become a favorite in my craft room, the Tags and Labels Framelits. I needed to add something to this card to make it look a bit more feminine that it looked at the start, so I added a bow made with Night of Navy Seam Binding Ribbon.
The two Thank You cards are for a couple of customers who just placed orders for Stampin' Up! products in my online store. Oh, I could just send an e-mail. But, hey! This is Stampin' Up! we're talking about, and if I can't send a hand made Thank You card what am I in this business for?! I sure would like to be sending a card out to any of you who are reading this blog post and and would like to order some of the supplies I've featured here or in any other post. Just click here to get right to my Stampin' Up! store. Just for giggles, I made that link to the Watercolor Wishes Kit – that's all you need for lots of cards, even if they're not identical to those I've shown you today!
