Aloha, all!
For the last 3 weeks, I’ve been getting ready for a trip to the island of O’ahu to spend the day at a Stamp Camp event in Kapolei. OK, I know most of you aren’t from Hawai’i, so here’s a couple of maps to get you oriented.
First, we live on the Big Island of Hawai’i, and O’ahu is north and west of us.
So you can see that it’s not a quick one-hour drive to this Stamp Camp. It is, however, a quick one-hour flight out over the ocean and a few other islands in between. The time from home to airport and airport to Stamp Camp adds a bit to the commute.
And while I’m on a map kick, I thought maybe you’d like to know where Kapolei is relative to the place you’ve likely heard most about on O’ahu, Honolulu. The airport is in between the two places.
Now that you’ve got me placed for next Saturday, I’ll get back to card-making. At the Stamp Camp we’ll be making lots of fun things. I’ve been to one of Cindy Baughman’s Stamp Camps before, and they are worth the trip to attend! What I haven’t done before, because I didn’t have much in the way of stamping supplies, is participate in the Stamp Camp swap. This time, however, thanks to my many Stampin’ Up! friends, I have a ton of supplies. So I bought the new Sweet Thing Stamp Set (to go with the Stamp Camp’s theme) and set out to make three dozen cards for the swap.
Today’s card was my first idea for the swap card. Then I realized that would mean stamping AND coloring 3 x 36 images which = 108 and that doesn’t include the sentiment for a total of an even 12 dozen stamped images, not to mention the 108 x 2 punches of cardstock = 216. My hand gets tired just thinking about it! So, no, I scrapped this idea for the swap. But it’s still a good card, and I know one special person who’s going to be the birthday girl who gets this card next month!
Thanks for stopping by today – and I hope you didn’t mind the geography lesson!
