Aloha, all!
Today is another birthday of a friend that I’m celebrating this week. That makes me happy not just because a friend is celebrating her big day, but because I LOVE making birthday cards! Plus, I love using new stamp sets to see what I can do with them. Today I lucked into all three!
If you follow many Stampin’ Up! demonstrators on their blogs or Instagram or Facebook, you may be thinking that you’ve seen this stamp before. But I’ll bet you haven’t seen it much. Because this is NOT from the popular new Stamp Set, Good Morning Magnolia. No, this stamp is in the Magnolia Blooms Stamp Set. Where can you find this set? In the new beginning stamper brochure, Experience Creativity.
The point of the new Experience Creativity Brochure is to introduce new stampers to the world of Stampin’ Up! without handing them that big annual catalog and saying, “shop.” What do they shop for? What can they start with that will allow them to produce a lovely project without being overwhelmed with the possibilities. The “overwhelming” part will come later (I love being overwhelmed by a new catalog; but I’m a long-time and experienced stamper!).
Just to give you an idea of the difference between the Good Morning Magnolia Stamp Set (I’ll call it GMM for a bit) and the Magnolia Blooms (I’ll call it Blooms). GMM is a 10-stamp cling stamp set. That means you have to pull all of those stamps out of the piece of rubber in which they come and add labels to them before you start using them. Blooms, on the other hand, has just 4 stamps AND it’s Photopolymer, which means you can use that stamp right out of the box. No muss no fuss.
Of course, I took this card a few steps beyond what is offered in the beginner brochure. But that’s OK, as long as I can work with my beginning customers to give them an idea of what else is out there. First, I used some of the Magnolia Lane Designer Series Paper as the top layer of the card front. First I stamped “Happy Birthday” (from the Magnolia Blooms set!) using the Mossy Meadow Stampin’ Spot featured in the Experience Creativity Brochure. I mounted that on a mat made of Mossy Meadow Cardstock, and then tied a knot in a piece of 5/8″ Whisper White Flax Ribbon and wrapped it around those two layers before adhering the strip of stamped magnolias. I fussy cut the center magnolia and mounted that using Stampin’ Dimensionals. Finally I adhered the whole thing to a card base made of Thick Whisper White Cardstock.
For my finishing touches, I used the Mossy Meadow Stampin’ Spot to stamp the magnolia bud from the Blooms stamp set inside the card, and another one of the full blossoms on the lower left corner of the envelope.
Let me know if you have a friend you’d like me to send one of the Experience Creativity Brochures! I’ll be happy to do that!
Meanwhile, I hope you’ll have fun stamping the summer away!
