Aloha, all!
I have a friend who has been going through a rough patch of life the past couple of weeks. It’s nothing super serious, it’s just gotten her down a bit and she hasn’t had any get-up-and-go when it comes to her crafting. In the crafting vernacular, she’s “lost her mojo.” Actually, I think it’s more that she’s lost her space to craft. I don’t live near her, but I definitely wanted to send her a card that might get her thinking about a layout, even perhaps considering how she could have done a better job than I had at the layout!
As it happened, at the same time that I was, myself, trying to figure out what I might send her, I came across the current challenge from the Freshly Made Sketches blog. There it was – my solution, and I knew just the stamp for the card!
The stamp is an image of an old-style rubber stamp, which I know she loves, from the Stampin’ Up! Crafting Forever Stamp Set. There are other images in this stamp set (and others) that would have made a nice 2 x 2 grid. But I didn’t want to fuss up this particular card too much. What I did choose to do was focus on three specific colors and then color the sentiment stamp with the Stampin’ Write Markers in those three colors.
After much pulling out and putting back of colors, I chose Real Red, Pacific Point (the blue), and Call Me Clover (the bright green). Coloring a rubber stamp is really easy with Stampin’ Write Markers – just use the tip of the broad brush point and color in the parts you want to be that color. It’s not so easy with photopolymer stamps as they don’t hold the ink as deeply as the rubber. Not only that, when you “huff” the stamp (breathe on it in a huffing motion after you’ve added the ink), on photopolymer the ink starts to shift away a bit.
Now to get this card in the mail. I really do hope that my friend will open this and say, “Oh, cool! But I can do better than that!” Go for it, girl!

What a lovely card! I just love those bright, cheery colours! I’m sure you’re friend is going to love this! It’s always a good day to get a hand made card in the mail! Thanks for joining us this week at Freshly Made Sketches!
