Two Fun Sale-a-bration Products!

January 18, 2023 by Robin

Hi, There, Stampers!

I have spent the last couple of days trying to decide which product in the 2023 Stampin’ Up! Sale-a-bration Brochure I wanted to play with next. At this point, I’m almost finished. But I have to stop for a bit and show you what I’ve done with my favorites. (Hint: There are MANY favorites in this brochure!) (Another Hint: The Stamp Set and Paper Set featured in this article are both FREE with a Stampin’ Up! purchase! More about that below.)

Of Owl The Products, This Was The Most Fun

OK, sorry about the lame pun. But I have to tell you about that those EYES in the Adorable Owls FREE Stamp Set! They just drew me in to check out owl of the pictures (sorry – no more). This cutie turned out to be my favorite, so I started our with her.

There’s a project in the Sale-a-bration Brochure that has these same two owls flying together in something of a scenic design. But I just wanted these two to be flying close together to strengthen the meaning of the “my friend” sentiment. So out came my Stamparatus so I could line them up. I used hinge-step stamping, moving the Stamparatus plate two hinges to the right after I stamped the first owl. Then I moved the cardstock just enough to the right so that the owls were right next to each other but not overlapping.

I decided to color the owls to match the papers I was using (more about that in just a minute). The color I wanted was Coastal Cabana, but there’s no Stampin’ Blends in that color. So, to keep things a bit on the light side of the color, I used a Blender Pen for coloring. That allowed me to add some darker shades as in the ears and wings. For the eyes, I picked up the Balmy Blue that’s also a color in the papers. The bill and feet are all Mango Melody Ink.

Dandy Designs Designer Series Paper

The Dandy Designs paper set in the Sale-a-bration Brochure has 48 sheets of 12″ square paper. There are 12 different sheets and each is double-sided. That’s 24 different prints! It’s definitely a Wow! product. It takes a $100 Stampin’ Up! purchase to get this paper set for FREE. And it is definitely worth it. I’ve been working almost non-stop on projects using it and I still haven’t touched all the prints. And you’ll get to see the projects I’ve made so far over the next couple of weeks.

For the background of this layout, I used two different sheets from the paper set both of which feature two of the highlighted colors in the set: Coastal Cabana and Balmy Blue. I could have used with color as the accent, but chose Coastal Cabana – just because!

If you’d like a tutorial for this card, including a layout sketch, be sure to subscribe to my newsletter as it will be in the next one – tomorrow! The sign-up sheet is in the upper right of this page!
