Smile Across the Miles!

May 13, 2022 by Robin

Hi, there!

Yes, I’ve stopped repeating titles in my posts. The Stampin’ Up! 2022-2023 Annual Catalog has been out less than 2 weeks, but I’ve already gone through changing, “This is my favorite new product,” at least half a dozen times. Today’s favorite? The Sending Smiles Bundle. Not only that, I stumbled on it as a favorite almost by accident.

A Fun Challenge

Each week, one of the online demonstrator groups to which I belong issues a design challenge. This week it was to make a card where the front of the card had an interesting shape. One example given was to use the Basic Borders Dies. So off I went to check out those dies (sitting unused forever in my stash). Immediately the envelope-shaped die caught my attention and took my thoughts right over to the Sending Smiles Bundle that I’d just put away on my stamp set shelf.  “Envelope,” “Sending” = a match made in crafting heaven.

Envelopes Everywhere

So off I went to my work table to contemplate how I was going to put these two products together. What colors? Papers? Embellishments? Wait, papers? Wasn’t there a print in the Tea Boutique Designer Series Paper set with envelopes on it? Things just continued to come together. Sure enough that envelope print just begged to be a part of this project.

A Design With More Room to Write!

While I love the A2-sized cards that I usually make in my Craft Room, one thing they’re lacking is space to write notes. Oh, short notes, sure – plenty of room. But when the “note” starts to verge on a “letter,” space runs out quickly. When I finally chose my design for this card, I realized right away that I was going to have  more room to write.

This design involves cutting a card that’s 11″ by 5-1/2″.  I scored it at 3-1/4″ and 7-1/2″. I used the pointed envelope die to cut the 3-1/4″ side, leaving me with the 4-1/4″ section and the 3-1/2″ section of the 11″ long card as the main are for writing. While that’s a tad bit shorter than the inside of a “standard” card, I also have the inside of the “envelope” section AND the back of the 4-1/4″ section for even more writing. I’m making a bunch of these to send “notes” to my friends who live “across the miles.”

What Have You Liked So Far?

Whether you have a Stampin’ Up! 2022-23 Catalog or not, you’ve seen lots of new products just from checking in here over the last week or so. And you may even have seen what I have in my newsletter. What’s your favorite so far?

Oh, and if you don’t have a catalog, why not give me a call and let me know you’d like one? I don’t charge for catalogs if you’re considering buying Stampin’ Up! products from me. If you’re not sure, you can certainly check out the catalog online. Then let me know if you have any questions. My contact information is right up at the top of this article, over on the right. I’d love to hear from you!

Happy Stamping! And don’t forget to use those cards that you make – send Smiles Across the Miles!
