One Design – Two Cards!

October 21, 2019 by Robin

Aloha, all!

The week before our windows were to be done was a usual kind of week around here – hectic and disorganized. One of these days I’ll get it together. Anyway, all of a sudden I realized that (not suddenly) I needed both a birthday card and a get well card, and I needed them the week before. The only solution to getting them done before the mail truck came to our apartment was to use one design.

At the same time, I’d just unpacked a box of Designer Series Papers that I’d purchased when they were on sale during September (yes, it takes a while for me to get around to unpacking boxes). The only reason I bought the Dinoroar Designer Series Paper set was that I got it for free after ordering 3 other sets of papers. Besides that, of course, the “other” side of most of the papers had designs that, to me, looked like tropical foliage. The paper I used for these cards was one of those – and don’t you agree that looks tropical?!

To go with the tropical feel of the paper, I brought out my well-loved and oft-used Tropical Dies to cut some matching palm and monstera leaves for accents. The color I chose was the Pretty Peacock color that’s one of the colors in the Designer Series Paper. For the Birthday card, with the stamp from the Perennial Birthday Stamp Set, I accented the leaves using Melon Mambo Glitter Enamel Dots that seemed to go well with the Lovely Lipstick accents in the paper. For the Get Well card and its sentiment from the Healing Hugs Stamp Set, I accented the design with Pretty Peacock Faceted Dots from the 2019-2021 In Color dots set.

And, yes, I did slap that stuff onto the card in a hurry, and it looks like it. But, hey, they’re hand-made cards and they got out in time!

Whether you’re being slow and careful or hurrying up as I was last week, enjoy what you’re doing. Happy stamping!
