Aloha, all!
I’ve had so much fun the past few weeks getting my Christmas Cards done. Stuck at home in a wheelchair and a cast-type boot on my driving foot has meant a lot more time in my Craft Room!
One of the things I’ve tried to do is to be sure that I use ALL of the Christmas and Winter-themed stamp sets I’ve bought. There are still two sets left that I haven’t touched. But, in the midst of looking at those, I decided that I needed to try out one last set of cards using the retiring Quilt Builder Framelits Dies, as well as use up some of the fun Foil Snowflakes I’ve had for a few weeks. Oh, and then there’s that luscious Year of Cheer Specialty Designer Series Paper with all those wonderful metallic elements. So off I went. Here are 3 of the 9 cards I made in this session:
This was actually the last of the cards that I made and I just used the interior of the square quilt-style framelit, with the outline cut from Copper Foil, and the inside pieces from one of the sheets of the Designer Series Paper set. On all of the other cards (you’ll see 2 below) I used the Foil Snowflakes as a background. But for this Copper-themed card, I cut Swirly Snowflakes out of the Copper Foil, and embossed the Merry Christmas Sentiment (from the Half Full Stamp Set) using Copper Embossing Powder
For this card, I used all my “outside” pieces from cutting the full quilt square out of Gold Foil. You’ll see some of the gold foil “inside” pieces in the following card. The “inside” pieces of this quilt square are from one of the sheets of the Designer Series Paper. The Gold Foil Snowflake and the gold-embossed sentiment really do a nice job of accenting the quilt square.
Finally, here is the very first card I made in this session (I guess I could have rearranged them here. Can you say, “lazy”?) I CASEd this idea from an ornament that I saw on Facebook, with the corner squares from the sheet in the Designer Series Paper set with large Copper and Champagne designs. For the triangles, I used the sheet with the sunburst design from the same set. Then for the “inside” pieces, I used two pieces each of Copper Foil, Gold Foil, Champagne Foil, and Silver Foil. If it wouldn’t have wasted an extraordinary amount of Designer Series Paper and Foil, I would like to have made ALL the cards with this design!
Today I’m actually going shopping – the first time in months! We’re going to Costco, and I’ll have to be in a wheelchair. But that will be fine, and I’ll be ready for Christmas parties that are coming up all too soon. It will be nice to drive across our island, too (it takes us almost 2 hours to get to the only Costco on our island). Thursday I’ll be back to Christmas projects, this time to set up for a tag and ornament class next Monday. That will be a fun class for my regular students – and me!!
Here are the products I used for the front of this card. I’ve marked the three that are retiring, but as of the time I’m writing this, all are still available to purchase. Just click on an icon to find out more about them and even to buy them in my own Stampin’ Up! Store.
