Aloha, all!
Do you know what Stampin’ Up! stamp set I used for this project? Maybe what’s important isn’t so much that it’s called, “Wrapped Bouquet,” but that it’s no longer available for us to buy. You see, it’s one of the stamp sets in the Stampin’ Up! January – June 2021 Mini Catalog that’s already sold out. That’s because, during the last couple of weeks of any catalog’s sales period, there are no guarantees that products won’t sell out. And tomorrow is the last day to pick up what’s left!
The Stamp Set Really Was Fun To Use
I haven’t had a chance to share what I’ve done with this set so far. And even though it’s not available for you to buy any more, I though I’d share my last project with the set before I consign it to the land of Retired Stamp Sets.
Trying Out Two Colors
My first thought when I chose this stamp for my post today was that I’d use Evening Evergreen as my base color. And, in fact, that’s what I did. Here’s a picture of the card that I made and, actually, I think it looks pretty nice. Except that it’s just a bit too dark for what I’d hoped would be a cheerful card.
So off I went to try it with another color. Ah, and there right next to my Evening Evergreen products were my brand new Soft Succulent Ink and Cardstock. The card I made with that is at the beginning of the post.
And yes, I now have two cards ready to send out to friends!
And A Simple Layout With a Twist
Backing up a bit, I originally tried out several different layout ideas. But no matter what I tried, just putting the stamped, colored and die-cut wrapped flowers image on top of the card base looked really nice.
On the other hand, I thought that the background looked a bit too plain. Enter a brand new product in the new Stampin’ Up! 2021-2022 Annual Catalog – the Stitched Greenery Die. This is the first time I’ve used it and I really like it. The twist is that this is a die, not an embossing folder. But it doesn’t cut? Nope. It just punches a bunch of little holes to mimic stitching around on the surface of the card.
But the best thing about the Stitched Greenery Die is that it complemented the other elements in the card just perfectly.
A Cute Little Tag
I love that Stampin’ Up!’s design team put a cute little tag die in the die-set that went with the Wrapped Bouquet stamp set. And, of course, there’s that teeny little stamp that says, “For You,” to go along with it. It’s perfect to tie onto the “newspaper” wrapped around the bouquet with a bit of Vanilla Baker’s Twine.
And I Got To Use My Stampin’ Blends
I’ve been so busy with trying to put tutorials together that I’ve not really spent much time working on my coloring techniques. I’ve got all these beautiful Stampin’ Blends Alcohol markers, and they’re just sitting there staring at me wondering why I’m neglecting them. So today, as I was about to pull a Stampin’ Write Marker out of its puka, I slapped my hand and said, “Blends!” So out came my Calypso Coral Stampin’ Blends. There’s really not much to coloring such small flowers. But it felt good to do a little blending. I really do need to practice. But I’m happy with what I did for now.
Don’t Forget the Last Chance Sales!
June 30, 2021, is the last day for sales from the January – June Mini Catalog. If there’s something that you’d really like to have and it hasn’t sold out already, now’s the time to get it! Yes, some of these products may end up in a Clearance sale a few months or quarters down the road. But there are no guarantees.
But whatever you do, have a good time stamping this week!
