Aloha, all!
I am at the age where all of the fathers in my life are my age or younger. Obviously, none of them is my father. But all of them are good fathers, and deserve to be wished a Happy Father’s Day. That’s especially true when many of them are isolated at home and not able to visit with either their children or grandchildren. My husband is one of those. So for him – and all the other fathers I know, this card’s for them!
A World of Good
How appropriate is it that one of the newest suites in the Stampin’ Up! catalog presents well for masculine themed cards and has the name, “World of Good.” These men in my life have all made the world a better place, each is his own way. So that was the go-to suite for my Father’s Day card this year.
The Center of the World
When I first looked through the papers in the World of Good Specialty Designer Series Paper set, this sheet immediately caught my eye. It’s been a while since I’ve done any 12 x 12 scrapbook pages, and this sheet reminded me of how one sheet of paper can really make a 12 x 12 page extra special. But, without those kinds of scrapbooks in my work space right now, I had to think hard about how I was going to make the best use of it. At the right is a photo of the whole sheet of paper.
The design is as if you are looking at the earth from one of the poles. I knew right away that I wanted to make a card out of the center section and that I wanted that center section in the middle of my card front. It was only at that point that I thought of making this a Father’s Day card. I first thought “masculine,” and then immediately thought of Father’s Day. What a great way to show that a father is part of the center of his children’s world.
The New Brass Foil
Another thought that crossed my mind was that adding gold to the papers in this set was great fun. Except it wasn’t gold. It was the new brass color that Stampin’ Up! was featuring in this set. So I couldn’t make the card right away because (boo!) I hadn’t ordered any of the new Brass Foil paper in my first new catalog order. The good news was that I was able to get some right away before it first went on back order.
Once I had the gold foil, and matted the Designer Series Paper with it, I wanted to use some more. I couldn’t remember if the Word Wishes Die set had anything about Father’s Day. But when I looked at my copy of the die set, it did! So I die-cut each of the three words and arranged them on the card front.
The final touch was the Misty Moonlight 1/4″ Twill Ribbon. I moved that ribbon up and down on the card (before I added the words with glue). And the only place it really worked was right in the middle of the card. I loved how it ended up accenting the center of the world and the card.
Lots of Fun Products
I had a lot of fun with new Stampin’ Up! products in making this card. I also relied on the not-that-new die set and Whisper White Thick Cardstock for the card base. I hope you’ll take the opportunity to click on any of the icons below to learn more about them in my personal Stampin’ Up! store. If you have any questions, be sure to let me know.
And Happy Father’s Day to those in your sphere who have the admirable title of Father!
