Aloha, all!
A couple of posts ago I mentioned how brilliant I found the new Brass Foil to be. It has a deeper foil feel to it and is somewhat darker than Stampin’ Up!’s Gold Foil sheets. In the last post, the Brass Foil was simple an accent. Today I’m sharing a card where the foil is front and center as a layer.
Brass Foil Complements Ornate Garden Papers
Another suite of products in the new Stampin’ Up! catalog that I really love is the Ornate Garden Suite. While I haven’t used everything from that suite in today’s project, I have used one product that the Brass Foil complements beautifully.
That product is the Ornate Garden Specialty Designer Series Paper set. The “specialty” part of this paper is that several of the sheets have gold accents running through them. The Mint Macaron sheet in this card is one of those. I think that the Brass Foil that I used really brings out the metallic element in this paper more than a piece of gold foil would.
The Brass Foil Works Beautifully with Dies and Punches
I began this card by creating a simple rectangle with the Brass Foil for that central layer. While I thought it looked nice, I really wanted to jazz it up a bit. So out came the Stitched Rectangle Dies. Much better!
I also used the Brass Foil as a mat for the label, both using the new Lovely Labels Pick a Punch (hints for using that were in my latest newsletter!). Doesn’t that make the label element pop?
And More From the Suite!
There are two other products in this card from the Ornate Garden Suite. The most prominent is the bunch of flowers from the Ornate Style Stamp Set. First of all, I just LOVE coloring these flowers. I’ve colored them both with Stampin’ Write Markers and with Stampin’ Blends. I colored this one with Blends, except for the Terracotta Tile posies as there is not a Stampin’ Blend set in that color. I didn’t use the blends for blending as much as I did for getting different shades of the same basic color.
The other product from the Ornate Gardens Suite is the Terracotta Tile Ribbon from the Ornate Garden Ribbon Combo. So far I have bought 4 packs of that Ribbon Combo – it’s such fun to use! And it goes beautifully with the Brass Foil!
About those “Suites”
Did you know that you don’t have to look all through the catalog if you just love everything about a suite and would like to have it all? All throughout the Stampin’ Up! Catalog there are single catalog numbers for the whole suite. For example, stock number 154153 gets you two stamp set bundles (each at 10% off the price of the stamp set + the die set that goes with it); an embossing folder; the ribbon combo pack; the Designer Series Paper; and the Gilded Gems embellishments. Just one number gets it all! By all means, click on any of the icons below and you’ll get sent to my personal Stampin’ Up! store where you can just browse if you’d like. Or order! You’ll have a blast with the products, and I’ll get to share some more ideas with you as you start using them!
Happy stamping – and shopping!
