It’s Easter Week!

April 8, 2020 by Robin

Aloha, all!

With all that’s been going on in the world, with all the events being canceled or postponed, there are some things that are written in concrete on the calendar. This week will bring two such events – Passover and Easter. I definitely have participated in seders on many occasions with my Jewish friends. But I grew up in a home where we celebrated Easter. My favorite memories of Easter are from my childhood with bunnies and baskets and Easter egg hunts. My favorite Easter tradition now is making and sending Easter cards. So the rest of this week, I’ll be sharing several of the cards I made this year.

A Paper Pumpkin Bunny and “Hinge Stamping”

For March 2020, Stampin’ Up!’s monthly Paper Pumpkin kit held an extra stamp set. And in that set was the cutest little bunny.

I thought I might include her in a little circle with a fun background. I picked the gingham pattern included in the Stampin’ Up! 6″ x 6″ paper collection featuring all their colors. But as I added the little critter stamp to my Stamparatus – to make sure I gave her a clean line – I realized she was the perfect width for some “hinge stamping”! So I placed the stamp where it would be easy to move the hinged cover one hinge opening at a time to the left. Five bunnies later, I had this design.

Sometimes I Keep Retired Products?

Bunny TailAs many of you know, I’m now in a small apartment. And it’s even more important that I not hang onto retired Stampin’ Up! products. I am a demonstrator and I do work to sell the products that I use in projects I feature in my blog posts and my classes. But every once in a while, along comes something that I think is worth having around AND it’s small enough to hide away. The Holiday Catalog Snowfall Puff Paint is one of those products. That’s why my bunnies have puffy tails.

And Then There’s Something Completely New!

Ornate BorderIn times past, I would simply have cut a rectangle and adhered it to the card front, likely with a ribbon wrapped around some layers to cover the line where the front and back papers met. But not these days! There’s the new Ornate Borders die set, and there was the perfect border for this card right there in the set.

That left just enough space to stamp the Happy Easter sentiment from the Easter Promise Stamp Set in the January – June Mini Catalog.

Have you sent any Easter Cards out this year? I’ve had plenty of time to make several different varieties with all my “stay at home” time. So keep an eye out for them later this week!

Happy stamping!

I have been stamping and paper crafting for over 30 years, and have been an Independent Stampin' Up! Demonstrator for 14 years.

My favorite part of being a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator is teaching others to enjoy crafting themselves. Not only do I conduct classes in person, I write tutorials for teaching anyone who has internet access. No matter if you're in my area in The Villages in Florida or anywhere else in the world, let me know if there's something you'd like to learn! Read More…
