Aloha, all!
It’s time once again for Cheryl Hamilton, a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator extraordinaire from Maui, and I to share projects across the channel between our islands – it’s Island Hopping Day!
The brand new Christmastime Is Here suite of products is available beginning this coming Friday, November 1st! What I found great about this suite is that so many products in it are perfect accents for all the wonderful Christmas products that I have already bought from the Stampin’ Up! 2019 Holiday Catalog.
I have to confess that I already have enough holiday products to get me through this season, and my first instinct was to tell myself, “No more!” But then I saw the Gold 1/4” Shimmer Ribbon, the Gold Glitter Enamel Dots, and the Christmastime is Here Specialty Designer Series Paper (DSP). All three of those products are just perfect accents for the Perfectly Plaid Suite and the Most Wonderful Time Product Medley, both of which I already had. The connection? Gold, of course!
My (current) favorite sheet of paper from the Christmastime is Here DSP set is the one with Cherry Cobbler accented with a diamond-shaped grid of gold. I picked out three of the plaid papers from the Wrapped in Plaid Specialty DSP (specialty because of the gold – same as the Christmas is Here DSP). I punched the papers using the Pine Tree Punch, making sure that the gold in the papers was highlighted by the way I punched the paper. I popped them up on the Cherry Cobbler/Gold DSP with Stampin’ Dimensionals, added a bow made with the new Shimmer Gold Ribbon, and chose a sentiment from the Perfectly Plaid Stamp Set, which I accented with two of the Gold Glimmer Dots.
As an aside – when I first used the label die from the Most Wonderful Time Product Medley, I noticed that there is a slight indentation around the center of the label. Cutting carefully along that indentation gives you a center section that you can adhere onto an untrimmed die-cut label. That’s what I did here, die-cutting both the stamped sentiment and the Gold Foil labels, and then trimming off the outside of the stamped piece. I used this same technique with the next card, also featuring the new Gold Shimmer Ribbon and the Gold Glimmer Dots.
For this card, I used two of the papers included in the Most Wonderful Time Product Medley, both of which have gold accents. I stamped the tree (from the Most Wonderful Time Stamp Set) using Old Olive Ink on Old Olive Cardstock, and then decorated it using the Gold Glimmer Dots. The Deck the Halls Sentiment is from the same stamp set.
Finally I made a card just featuring the products from the Christmastime Is Here set that I’ve bought. Here’s that luscious Cherry Cobbler/Gold DSP again, accented with a few Gold Glimmer Dots and a piece of the Shimmer Gold Ribbon. The center section is made up of roses that I cut out of one of the other sheets from the Christmastime DSP set – note the white rose with gold accents. I popped up the ovals in the background as well as the flowers themselves with dimensionals, and added a bow. I found the “Be Merry” sentiment in the Tidings All Around Stamp Set. But there are smaller style Christmas/Holiday greetings in just about any holiday stamp set you might have.
I hope that this gave you some ideas about how you, too, might be able to use some – or all! – of the elements in the new Christmastime Is Here Suite to accent what you already have in your stash.
Finally, I hope you’ll visit Cheryl Hamilton’s blog post today to see how she worked with this fun new suite of products!
Happy Stamping!
