Aloha, all!
This past Saturday was a typical winter day here in Hilo, Hawai’i. It rained, then the sun came out. It rained, then the sun came out. It rained…. Yup, that was the whole day! But do you know what happens when that weather pattern is ruling the day? Rainbows!!!
This is a double rainbow that showed up just off the lanai of our 9th floor apartment. We were in a perfect position to enjoy this beauty for several minutes before the weather changes once again.
Whenever I think of rainbows, I realize that, even in the dreariest of weather, there can be beauty, and in the hardest of times there can be happiness. That’s one reason that I keep sending cards that I’ve made to one of my friends who is going through some very difficult health issues. I’d like to think that I’m “a rainbow in someone cloud” (Maya Angelou).
This is the card I made to send to my friend today.
While I’ve been working with the Music From the Heart Stamp Set I’ve been thinking of her, and wondered if I could figure out a layout that would be a bit warmer than the two or three cards I’d already made with the set. Then another online friend showed off a card with this gorgeous paper from the new Best Dressed Designer Series Paper set. So I put the Music stamp set with the floral paper and came up with this design. I love the stylized musical clef that’s in this set, and I’m glad finally to be able to use it. I picked up the Lovely Lipstick color from the Designer Series Paper to color in the clef’s heart as well as to stamp the “Just a Note” sentiment across the top of the staff.
I did a little something else different with this design, too. I didn’t want to put notes into the staff willy-nilly, so went looking for some kind of simple childhood tune to put in it. I was somewhat constrained by not wanting to put notes above or below the staff itself. After that, I didn’t really care about putting bars where they should be or even including anything other than a quarter note. And I found a tune! It’s pretty simple to figure out 🙂
Happy stamping – and humming once you get that tune in your head!

Pretty card!! And your rainbow picture is gorgeous!! Lucky we live Hawaii!
