Aloha, all!
I am unabashedly a member of the Facebook community. Sharing my stories of what goes on in my little corner of the world in beautiful Hawai’i is something I enjoy. I also love seeing what other crafters are doing when it comes not making cards. Of course, that extends especially those who make use of Stampin’ Up! products in their work. So it’s not surprising that I belong to many Facebook “groups” related to my love of paper crafting. Today I’m going to share what I made for one group’s challenge this week.
CASE-ing Tuesday
This group, CASE-ing Tuesday, picks a sample from a Stampin’ Up! catalog and challenges members to copy the card. The focus is on a sketch of the sample’s design that the group creates. It’s an open group, so anyone may join the group.
This week, the card for CASE-ing is in the lower left section of page 55 of the current Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalog. The sample card features the stamp set, Zoo Globe. But it’s the structure of the card that’s featured in the challenge.
Boho Indigo Was Up to the Challenge!
When I first walked into my craft room this morning. I knew that I wanted to do something new with the papers and other products from the Boho Indigo Product Medley. I’d only made one card with it, and was anxious to play with the papers some more. When I saw this sketch, I just knew it was made to use those beautiful blue papers in the Product Medley.
I picked two of the floral patterns with a lot of the Very Vanilla background showing, and added a darker floral print between the two. The base layer from the Designer Series Paper in the Product Medley is the same one that I used in my last card. I think the reason that I like it so much is that it provides a great background for a layout using any of the other papers in the set. For the layer behind the 3 vertical strips, I cut a piece of the dry-embossed Very Vanilla cardstock included in the Medley. And, with the gold accents featured in the labels in the Medley, how could I not make the horizontal strips out of Gold Foil?!
Why Not Try It Yourself!
Here is a copy of the sketch from the Facebook group. I made two minor changes for my layout. The first is that my vertical strips are 2-5/8″ high (not 2-3/8″). The second is that the layer behind them is 4″ x 3″ instead of 4-3/8″ x 3″. But you’ll see if you visit the group that there are many bigger variations – and they are all fun projects!
If you’re in a crafting mood today, why not try out the sketch with your own Stampin’ Up! products. I’d love to see them there!
Have fun with it – or with whatever in the way of crafting you’ll be doing this week.
