Tomorrow is the first day of Stampin’ Up!’s brand new January-June Mini Catalog, and I’d like to share with you the very first card I made using a favorite new bundle, Under My Umbrella.
The Under My Umbrella Stamp Set was the very first stamp set from the new Mini Catalog that I received because I “won” it in one of the Prize Patrols at the Stampin’ Up! On Stage event in Portland, Oregon in November. Once I saw it in the catalog, I wondered how I could use it creatively, although I did think copying some of the catalog ideas would make some fun cards.
My idea came as I was playing with several umbrella shapes that I’d punched using the new Umbrella Builder Punch. I had two in my hand and the crooks at the ends on the handles locked together. It was an “aha” moment as the “friends forever” sentiment came to mind. After that it was a simple idea to have two umbrellas on the front of a card with their handles locked together as if they were holding hands.
For the umbrellas, I used the 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper sets that included the Calypso Coral and Bermuda Bay colors that I chose for the card. I chose those colors because they are two of the colors in the 2020 Sale-a-Bration Brochure, which also goes live tomorrow. My plan was to use the sequins as well as the Bermuda Bay metallic twine in that set for the card. I’d also decided to use this card as the one I’d include in an online swap I’d joined last month. But I ran out of the Bermuda Bay twine before I was finished, so went to my spool of Bermuda Bay 1/4″ Striped Ribbon. I photographed one of those cards, and not one of the cards with the twine. I can’t fix that now as they’re all already in the mail for the swap!
