Hi, there, Stampers!
Today and Monday, I’m going to show you some of the Designer Series Paper sets you can get for FREE with just a $50 purchase of Stampin’ Up! products. This promotion started last week and will continue until the end of February While Supplies Last.
To get this paper for FREE, all you have to do is to place an order for Stampin’ Up! products totaling $50 (before taxes, etc.). Then you get to choose one $50-tier product from the 2023 Sale-a-bration Brochure. This paper is one of those products! Just a quick thought: I you ordered just the ribbons and embellishments for these cards, you’d be at $38.50. Order some cardstock or embossing powder, and you can get to $50 pretty quickly!
Favored Flowers Designer Series Paper
I’m a bit puzzled by the name of the Favored Flowers paper set. And I have to tell you that, at first I wasn’t sure that I really liked the set at all. But, being a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator, I felt that I needed to choose it as one of my own FREE Sale-a-bration products to give it a try.
Now I’m hooked on the set. In the beginning I focused on the “back” side of the floral prints. But the more I looked at the “front” sides, the more I realized how wonderfully they would work as backgrounds for many different styles of cards.
Trying Out Heat Embossing With Favored Flowers
Right out of the box, the first thing I wanted to try was to use white heat embossing to see if that worked. It worked! OK, it doesn’t work (at least from my perspective) on all of the prints. But it worked at least on the first three prints that I tried.
Card Number 1: It’s All Fresh Freesia
The print that’s the background for this card is all Fresh Freesia-colored flowers, with some Mossy Meadow leaves. I made the card base using Fresh Freesia Cardstock, and inserted a layer of Mossy Meadow Cardstock between the paper and the base. I finished the card with Fresh Freesia Open Weave Ribbon and some dots of White Classic Matte Dots.
Card Number 2: It’s All Petal Pink
The flower in this print is a different style and is all Petal Pink. I mounted this print directly onto a card base of Petal Pink Cardstock. I tried some different colors for a second layer, but I personally didn’t card for any of them. And I really like the way this print works directly on the Petal Pink card base.
I finished the card using a piece of Petal Pink Soft Polyester Ribbon that I tied using a simple knot. Again, I personally did not like the way that a bow tied with ribbon worked for this card. The dots are Petal Pink dots from the Solid Faceted Gems embellishment pack.
Finally, Card Number 3: A Trio of Colors
The colors in the print I used for this card are Fresh Freesia, Calypso Coral and Petal Pink. I tried Calypso Coral Cardstock to go with this print. But, alas, I had no Calypso Coral ribbon in my stash. As you might imagine, I tried mixing and matching and nothing worked but either Free Freesia or Petal Pink. I chose the freesia and am happy with the way it turned out, especially with the freesia flower in that upper right corner.
To finish the card, I used Fresh Freesia dots from the 2021-2023 In Color Opal Rounds, as well as the Fresh Freesia Open Weave Ribbon I used in the first card, this time tied into a full bow.
And Then There’s the Embossing
To make the greetings on this card, I used the Biggest Wish Stamp Set, and all the products that you need to create heat-embossed images. I won’t go into that here. But if you’re interested in how it’s done, just let me know and I’ll fill you in!
Happy Stamping – and Sale-a-brating!
