Hi, There, Stampers!
Here’s another print from the Celebrate Everything Designer Series Paper set. This one is a very colorful and busy print, just right for a holly jolly Christmas type of merry card.
It’s a Swingfold Card
I chose fun fold cards for this and my next Christmas card with prints from this paper set. This Swingfold Card (layout below) looks a bit complicated, but it’s really not. The Stampin’ Up! Paper Trimmer, with both the cutting and scoring blade in it at the same time, is perfect for it. Both the short edges and the middle section stay intact and hold the card in place. The “swing” part of the card is attached to the middle section, which is attached to the outer sides of the card. I love just opening and closing it to see both sides of the swinging section.
Decorate Both Sides of the “Swing”
The picture at the top of this article shows what the card looks like when it’s just starting to be opened from its closed position. The picture at the right shows what the card looks like when it’s opened. I like having a sentiment on both sides of the card so that it looks nice when it’s standing up on a table or mantle. One thing that you have to make sure to do when decorating this card is to leave room for at least a signature. I did that with this card by placing the “inside” sentiment over to the left, leaving room for a small note and signature.
I chose the sentiments from the Trimming the Tree Stamp Set. The die-cut tree, as well as the garland hanging on the inside of the swing are from the Tree Trimmings Dies, part of the September-only Perfect Partners promotion at Stampin’ Up! And, yes, again just during September, you can purchase both the Stamp Set and the Die Set as a Bundle!
And My Own Background!
Do you see the little Christmas Tree ornaments stamped on the Granny Apple Green Cardstock that’s the base of the card? All of them are from the Trimming the Tree Stamp Set, too. And there are multiple little dies for all of those ornaments in the Tree Trimmings Die set. All the most reason to snatch up that bundle while the snapping is good!
The Sketch
Here is a sketch that I made showing the various measurements for scoring/folding and cutting. The dashed lines are to be scored and folded and the solid lines are to be cut. Using the Stampin’ Up! Paper Trimmer makes this easy!
I’m planning to write a tutorial for different ways to decorate this card. But I’m sure that any of you reading this will quickly figure out what you want to do with it.
Happy Stamping!
