Double Diamond Fold – With Hand-Penned Petals

May 25, 2021 by Robin

Aloha, all!

Have I mentioned how much I just LOVE the new Stampin’ Up! Hand-Penned Petals Suite of products in the new 2021-2022 Annual Catalog? I think I must have as I’ve already shared several project using the papers and stamps. Now I’m hooked on using the papers and stamps to make some fancy fold cards.

The  Double  Diamond  Fold

Diamond Fold Product ImageI’ve shared this fancy fold with you before. But this is the first time I made this card design using Hand-Penned Petals. I make this card using an 11″ x 4-1/4″ piece of cardstock. So even though it looks like it might take a longer piece of cardstock, a standard 8-1/2″ x 11″ piece of cardstock will make two of these cards.

A tutorial booklet for making this card, as well as a card with a single diamond in the center (using a 12″ x 4-1/4″ piece of cardstock), is available here on my website.

Focusing  on  Highland  Heather

In most of the Double Diamond Fold cards that I’ve made, I’ve included a punched or die-cut element on both of the diamonds. But I like the floral patterns in this paper so much that I wanted to let them shine all by themselves in this card.

Look closely at the two diamonds in this card and you’ll notice that the prints on both diamonds are just about identical. That was not an accident. I found the image I wanted to show off from the patterned paper and then cut the same design out twice. Once the two pieces were trimmed into a diamond shape, the larger flower took its place in the center and became the focal point on each diamond.

I hadn’t been entirely sure which color cardstock I wanted to use for this card until I saw those two larger flowers with the Highland Heather petals. As a bonus, I could use the other side of the same sheet of paper to create the patterned paper layers in the inside half-diamonds.  Of course, I followed up the color theme by stamping the sentiment on the inside Basic White Layer, as well as adding a small part of one of the bouquets in the Hand-Penned Petals Stamp Set, colored Highland Heather, of course.

Another  Double  Diamond  Fold  Later  This  Week

I have another brand new Double Diamond Fold card to share with you later this week. I’d share it tomorrow, but tomorrow’s the monthly Island Hopping post where sister Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator, Cheryl Hamilton, and I write a post using the same products. Be sure to check in here tomorrow to see now one, but three projects to show off what we’ve chosen for this month.

Happy Stamping!
