Hi, There, Papercrafters!
For my last CASE (Copy And Share with Everyone) of the new Stampin’ Up! 2022-23 Annual Catalog this week, I’m back to using the taller of the two bottles in the Bottled Happiness Stamp Set. I’m also back to using twocolors that have become some of my favorites over the last few weeks: Calypso Coral and Petal Peach. To complement these two colors for today’s project, I chose another old favorite, Mint Macaton
Creating a Background with Stamps
There were three distinct features of the original card’s layout that drew me to it. The first was the way that the background stamps in the Oceanfront Stamp Set had been used. I don’t (yet) have this stamp set. But I do have a stamp set that was part of an educational session I attended earlier this year. Hello Beautiful has some amorphous images that are fun to use as part of a stamped background. So I slipped that out of my stamp shelf and started stamping. I just wanted to see what it would look like if I used some Mint Macaton and Petal Pink as a background. I’m pretty sure that it works quite well.
Creating the Strips
The designer of this card cut the layer that had been stamped into three strips which were then spaced about 1/8″ apart on the card front. That’s a fairly common technique, and I’ll actually be using it again in at least one card next week. But what’s not so common (yet) is that the piece that was cut into the strips was initially die-cut using one of the Deckled Rectangles Dies. As I happen to have those dies in my stash, I decided to do that, too. I love the effect!
There’s actually one more strip on this card. It’s the horizontal strip across the bottom third of the card. I cut that out of Petal Pink Cardstock and laid it across all three strips.
The Rest of the Card
Once I stamped all the “blobs” from Hello Beautiful onto the background, cut the strips and adhered it to the middle layer (with Stampin’ Dimensionals), it was time to figure out the rest of the card. From the start I envisioned the taller of the bottles in the Bottled Happiness Stamp Set as the one for this card. It only took a minute looking at the stamp set to see that the single sprig of leaves would be just fine to complete the bottle’s design. I stamped that directly onto the strip on the right and then adhered the bottle to the card front, over the horizontal strip, with Mini Glue Dots.
The sentiment is one from the wonderful new sentiments stamp set, Go To Greetings. Now that’s a stamp set that will be a favorite all year long. It’s not that there are so many greetings. It’s that there are a few common greetings in different sizes and fonts. You’ll be seeing a lot of it here.
And a Bonus – A Sketch with Measurements
If you have any questions about this sketch, let me know. My contact information is up towards the top of the column on the right. If you use the sketch for a project, let me know. I’d be happy to share it here for the rest of the gang!
Happy Stamping!
