Hi, there!
No, we’re not shifting to the Hello Ladybug Stamp Set for today. Instead, I want you to see what I saw when I got to this page. I focused right on that little slimline card toward the bottom of this picture and immediately thought of the images in the Cheerful Basket Stamp Set. Wouldn’t any one of those images that are designed to fit on top of the basket stamp work well with that card? So I thought I’d try it, this time with the hearts image, as I’ve done the other two already in this week’s series.
Again, It’s the Layout
This time, as in my second card made with the Cheerful Basket Stamp Set, it was the layout that caught my eye, not the colors. And when it came to that layout, I didn’t even bother measuring as I already knew what size to make a small slimline card: 3-1/2″ x 6-1/2″. That’s not any kind of rule, it’s just the size I like to make them. Many people use 3-1/4″ x 6-1/4″. If you’d like to make that size of a card, that’s a fine size and you should go for it. I just like a bit more room on the inside for writing notes. (Have I mentioned that I like to write notes in cards?)
Then I just gave myself a 1/2″ border on three sides, leaving me with a 2-1/2″ x 6″ layer on which to stamp.
Have You Tried the New Masking Paper?
One of the newest items in the Stampin’ Up! 2022-23 Annual Catalog is a pack of masking paper. I love it! It’s light enough so you don’t leave an unstamped edge around your stamping AND it’s sticky on the full surface of the paper. Anyway, that’s how I got these hearts to march so neatly along the bottom of the stamped layer.
About Those Colors
I just love the way this bunch of hearts looks with all these colors. I don’t have any secrets to figuring out which colors to stamp where. I just start with one color and, when it looks good to me, I grab another color and do the same thing. For this card, I used four Stampin’ Up! colors and Stampin’ Blends alcohol markers: Sweet Sorbet, Polished Pink, Petal Pink, and Flirty Flamingo. You may remember Flirty Flamingo from the first card in this series, in which I stamped the apples with Flirty Flamingo and they looked red. Next to the Sweet Sorbet, they look a bit more on the orangish-pink side, don’t you think?
I also used Sweet Sorbet Classic Ink to stamp the sentiment as well as the hearts that I used as background texture.
Some Really Smooth Ribbon
In the original card, the designer used cardstock along the bottom of the stamped layer, to mimic the grass on which the cute little ladybugs were walking. I like that touch, so I used the new Petal Pink 3/8″ Soft Polyester Ribbon. Soft really is the operative word here. That ribbon is so soft and so smooth! I’m going to love using it in projects this year.
The Final Touch
I just had to fill in that empty space over on the left. What better way to do that than with the Stampin’ Up! embellishments. Of course I chose the 2022-2024 In Color Matte Decorative Dots. I love these dots, as well as the rest of the matte dots in the new Stampin’ Up! catalog because they’re so smooth (there’s that word again) and tend not to cut holes in the envelopes in which I send my cards.
So that’s it for this month’s renditions of way to use the Cheerful Basket Stamp Set! I can see myself using it quite a bit come fall and apple-picking season! But don’t wait until then to check back with me. Next week I’m going to try this CASE thing with another of Stampin’ Up!’s newest stamp sets. Hmmm. Now I need to go figure out which one to use!
