Hi, there, Papercrafters!
I had so much fun doing all that CASEing (Copy And Share with Everyone) of the Stampin’ Up! 2022-23 Annual Catalog last week that I had to try it out again. This time, I chose the new Bottled Happiness Stamp Set as my creative base. I put the Stamp Set and my new Catalog on my work table and proceeded to try to match up the two. This week I’ll share the results.
Selecting the Design
I actually found quite a few cards that fit my requirements this week. But the first one that made me stop and start creating was this card on page 49 of the catalog. What stopped me in my tracks was the width of the center banner. It looked like it would be a perfect background for the large floral spray in the stamp set. Of course having flowers in the original did help me lean toward the floral direction.
Selecting the Colors
I started to look through my color charts to figure out what colors I was going to use. But I kept coming back to the colors in the original background design: Calypso Coral and Petal Pink. The Petal Pink Designer Series Paper in the background in the original was from the new Tea Party paper set. But I decided just to use one of the Petal Pink sheets from the Subtles 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper. I really like the polka dots in the print I used. To complement these two colors, I chose Granny Apple Green for both the leaves and the bottle in the design.
Stamping the Flowers
There are two stamps in the set that you use to make the whole bouquet. I find that the best way to get these two stamps to line up just perfectly is to use my Stamparatus stamp positioning tool. Once I stamped the Calypso Coral flowers, I placed the cardstock on which I stamped them into my Stamparatus. Then I placed the stamp with the leaves and floral centers onto the cardstock, visually matching all of the elements in the two designs. Of course you can do that without a Stamparatus. But once you have everything all centered, you have to go ink up your stamp and try to get everything centered again WITH ink on your stamp. With a Stamparatus, you place the stamp perfectly, anchor the cardstock with a magnet (they come with the Stamparatus), close the cover plate to pick up the stamp, ink it up, and place it EXACTLY where you had it before you inked it. I just love my Stamparatus!
Don’t Forget the Envelope!
I love when a stamp set has something that fits perfectly down in the lower left corner of an envelope. The bottles in this set do that perfectly. There’s even a stamp of a cork that will fit in the bottle. I included that in the envelope image. My thought was: “Remove the cork and the flowers come flying out.” A bit improbable, but still….
