Earlier this week I shared one of the recent Double Diamond Fold Cards I’ve made. It featured the new Stampin’ Up! Hand-Penned Petals Suite of products. Today’s project has some stamps, paper, die-cuts and embossing from the Sand and Sea Suite from the Stampin’ Up! January to June 2021 Mini Catalog. That catalog will end as of June 30, 2021. But the Friends Are Like Seashells Stamp Set, the Seaside Seashells Dies, and the Shells 3D Embossing Folder are continuing on in the new Annual Catalog. AND the Stamp Set and Dies will still be bundled for a 10% savings!
The Double Diamond Fold Design
As I mentioned on Tuesday, I have a tutorial for this Double Diamond Fold Design for sale in my shop (right her on my blog site). The tutorial includes instructions for two different designs of diamond fold as well as two samples for each design. The tutorial does not specify which specific products to use (you can use whatever you have in your own stash). But the samples are made entirely with Stampin’ Up! products, and I’ve included the measurements for those products as well.
For the next week, the Diamond Fold Booklet (with 2 tutorials) is 25% off the regular price!
I’ve done a few things with the sea shells in the Friends Are Like Seashells Stamp Set. The shells really show themselves off as embossed, die-cut elements on the front of both folded diamonds. It’s easy to stamp, die-cut, and then emboss the shells to make those 3-dimensional beauties like the ones on the card.
Then I used two of the smallest stamps in the set to decorate the bottom of the inside of the card. It looks really cool when the card is all folded up as you see them peeking out from the bottom of the diamonds.
Finally, I decorated the envelope with the sand dollar stamp. I’m trying to do more with decorating my envelopes. One way I’ve made that easier for me to do is to keep a half dozen or so envelopes out on my work table so they’re close at hand when I have stamps and ink out for my project. I’ll let you know how that works.
Papers and Colors
I’ve loved everything about the soon-to-be-retired Sand & Sea Designer Series Paper. That includes the colors in it. One of the main colors in the set of papers is Seaside Spray. The sheet that I chose to use for this card is entirely Seaside Spray, which looks like a watercolor paining of, well, water. Unfortunately, the Seaside Spray color is no longer in the Stampin’ Up! catalog. As a Stampin’ Up! “In Color,” it was only around for two years. That meant it retired as of May 4th this year when the new Annual Catalog was released. So I chose a darker color – Misty Moonlight Cardstock – for the base color for the card.
The other color in this card – the pink in the shells and the sentiment – is Flirty Flamingo. That actually is a color in the paper set and it turned out to be a nice complement for the Misty Moonlight.
The Mini Catalog Last Chance Sale — Coming Soon
With the January – June Mini Catalog coming to an end June 30th, Stampin’ Up! will have a “Last Chance” promotion for items that are retiring as of that date. Many of the products will be as much as 50% off (a lot more 50% off than I’ve seen lately). Check back here on June 1st to see what’s retiring and what’s on sale!
