Aloha, all!
You might be aware that it’s just a bit more than 3 weeks until Stampin’ Up!’s 2019 Holiday Catalog is released. But you may already have seen many demonstrators show off some of the Holiday Catalog product that they bought as part of the demonstrator pre-order program (yes, demos get to buy stuff early – so we can show samples off to our customers as soon as the catalog is released).
But, if you’re like me, you are just about ready to get started on making Christmas or other Holiday cards for the upcoming holiday season NOW! In past years, I’ve been able to pull some holiday stamps and paper out of the Annual Catalog to show you how to get started now. But this year, there is no real holiday paper in the annual catalog. Rats! As I was going through my stash of papers looking for some of the red and green papers from the 6″ square colored Designer Series Papers, I came across some papers from last Spring’s Sale-a-Bration event. I hadn’t remembered that one of the papers in the Painted Seasons Designer Series Paper set that was a free Sale-a-Bration item, was holiday paper!
Not only that, there is a Stamp Set and Dies Bundle in the current Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalog. The bundle is called, A Wish for Everything. So with something that you may already have in your own stash (not many people used the Holiday print back near Valentine’s Day and Easter!) AND something that you can order right now without waiting for 3+ weeks, you can make holiday cards!
For the first card, I used Lovely Lipstick Cardstock and Ink for the sentiment layer, with a fun dot over the ‘i’ in Christmas made with a Red Rhinestone Basic Jewel. For the mat behind the card front, I used Soft Suede Cardstock to accent the pine cone images in the printed design.
If you do not manage to have some of Sale-a-Bration paper still in your stash, there is some fun Lovely Lipstick papers in the 2018-2020 In Color 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper set, also available right now!
Now for the “Sneak Peek”!
Here’s that Sale-a-Bration paper again. But this time, I’ve added a stamp and some die-cuts from the yet-to-be-released Peaceful Boughs Bundle from the upcoming Holiday Catalog. For this card, I used the same holiday paper and the Lovely Lipstick Cardstock, Ink and Ribbon for the sentiment. But I added some more of the Lipstick cardstock as the mat for the card front. The green cardstock and ink for the stamped pine boughs is mostly Call Me Clover, with a bit of Granny Apple Green tossed into the mix for a bit of a yellowish green to provide texture.
As a base for the sentiment, I used two of the Stitched Nested Labels, with Call Me Clover Cardstock for the larger label and Whisper White Cardstock for the stamped label. The really fun element in this card is that pine cone. It’s made using two different die-cut images, one for the solid back and one for the textured front. There are two sizes in this die set, and you can make either with the same color or with a different color for the front and the back to give added texture interest to the pine cone.
That’s it for today! Tomorrow I’ll share the third card that I made with this set of products, and then we’ll be done with it. I promise my next couple of Christmas/Holiday cards will have all current product so you can start on your cards, too!
