Welcome to the monthly Island Hopping featuring projects by Cheryl Hamilton, from the Island of Maui, and by me, who hails from Hawai’i’s Big Island. Today our featured Stampin’ Up! product is the special new set of patterned papers, Pattern Party.
What’s so special about this paper? First, it’s a pack of 48 sheets of 12″ x 12″ paper. That’s four times the number of sheets in other patterned paper sets. Second, you can only purchase it with Stampin’ Rewards. You start earning those rewards when you place a Stampin’ Up! order that’s a total of $150 in Stampin’ Up! products.
Because I’d like to show you several ways I’ve used this paper, I won’t have as much detail about each card today. But I’m planning to feature each of the cards in separate blog posts in the future.
Pattern Party and the All Squared Away Bundle
The All Squared Away Stamp Set has four stamped images that are each a design in a square sheet. The Floral Squares Dies includes four dies that create four different floral frames that are made to be layered over the stamped squares. But for this post, instead of the stamped images, I cut squares of four different patterns from the Pattern Party. Two of the prints include the Petal Pink color. So I used Petal Pink Cardstock for the card base. And doesn’t that Petal Pink Organdy Striped Ribbon go perfectly with that striped pattern in the upper left corner!
Pattern Party and Two New Stamp Sets
Two of our grandchildren are graduating from High School this year. For the first one I wanted a card that was bright and colorful. And, wow, isn’t that striped design colorful?! For reference, compare it to the same design that I used in the upper left corner of the first card. Those stripes work in any direction.
To make the sentiment layer, I chose seven colors that are fairly close to those in the stripes and stamped the thin rectangle from the Watercolor Shapes Stamp Set. I chose the size that I wanted for the stamped layer and then started stamping. Stamping the top and bottom rectangles first helped me know where to place the other shapes.
For the sentiments I used four of the eighteen in the One Happy Family Stamp Set.
Pattern Party with Turtle Friends, and New Dies
This cute, cute, cute card is one that I CASEd from another Stampin’ Up! demonstrator. I’ll definitely talk more about the new Give it a Whirl die set in a post coming up soon. But what I really want to focus on today is how perfect that Granny Apple Green pattern in the Pattern Party paper pack goes with the turtle stamps. The pattern in the paper almost makes it look like the grass where you’d see a cute turtle making its way around your garden. I just want to pick it up and hug it!
