A CASEd Fun Fold!

August 30, 2019 by Robin

Aloha, all!

Last year when we lost our home to the Kilauea Volcano eruption, dozens and dozens of sister Stampin’ Up! demonstrators sent me their handmade greeting cards. I had no idea that so many people cared about me and I loved each and every one of those cards. One card in particular that I shared on my blog last summer managed to get posted on Pinterest and several people have asked me for the pattern. This past weekend I finally got around to recreating the card using current products AND I wrote a tutorial about how to make it.

I originally called this card a Double Step Front Fold card. That sounds as good as anything, so it’s stayed with my project. In trying to figure out what colors and stamp sets I wanted to use for the tutorial card, I thought about any cards I might want to send to friends. My first thought was to send a card to a sister Stampin’ Up! demonstrator who’s been having some health issues of late. It’s a perfect Pay It Forward kind of card to send!

So off I went to find the Beautiful Promenade Stamp Set on my stamp set shelf. I was pretty sure that I wanted just two colors for this card, and I quickly settled on Petal Pink and Pretty Peacock. The card base itself is Petal Pink Cardstock. For the stamped layer on the card base, I stamped several of the flowers and leaves using the Pretty Peacock Ink, and then stamped the inside of the flowers using Petal Pink Ink. I finished by filling the open spaces with some of the smaller stamps, using both inks.

For the front of the card, I made the frame using the half-frame stamp from the set. It didn’t quite meet in the middle, so I added some Petal Pink Sequins from the Basic Adhesive-Backed Sequins set, finishing off the front with what I thought was just the right sentiment for sending to my friend. The mats for both stamped layers are Pretty Peacock Cardstock.

The final touch for the whole card was a bow tied around the top of the front section using the Petal Pink 5/8 Organdy Striped Ribbon.

And finally the envelope – I’ve been trying really hard not to stop when I’ve finished a card, but to pull out an envelope while my card products are still on my desk so that I can stamp the envelope, too. Oh, and did I mention that this card, when it’s folded up, fits in that regular A2-sized envelope? Yes, indeed.

About that tutorial – as always, I save my tutorials for my FREE NEWSLETTER! If you’re not on my mailing list, now’s the time to add you name (over there on the right) as I’ll be sending out my next newsletter this weekend, just in advance of the Holiday Catalog. I hope you’ll get one of these tutorials if you’d like one!

Happy Stamping!
