Aloha, all!
Last weekend, I was part of the annual arts and crafts fair that is a fund-raiser for a small service group to which I belong. The larger organization is called Family and Community Education (FCE), with clubs and councils throughout the United States. It’s part of an international group called the Associated Country Women of the World. Wow, that’s a big title! But everything starts with what local groups do for their immediate community. That’s where the fund-raiser comes in.
Every year I make something with my Stampin’ Up! supplies and take them to the fair. Every dollar that we take in from purchase of these projects goes toward our work to help the community.
For this year’s fair, I made up boxes of cards, featuring a theme of tropical flowers. I made a dozen boxes of four cards, using the Tropical Chic Stamp Set, as well as the soon-to-be-retired Tropical Escape Designer Series Paper set. Oh, and there was lots of die-cutting involved, using the Tropical Thinlits Dies.
I’m really going to miss the Designer Paper set. My friend, Donna, and I used a lot of it to make our Christmas Cards last year when we ran off to our then soon-to-be-renovated apartment to do some crafting during our lava evacuation. Then I tore through lots of the papers to make these card sets for our FCE sale nearly a year later. It will always have a place in my heart, and probably my craft room. It is very Hawaiian, after all!
Here’s the display at the fair. I really did want these cards to sell for the benefit of our group so I priced them to sell – and sell they did! I used up a lot of that retiring paper, had a lot of fun crafting, and our club now has $120 to spend on our work for the community.
Of all of the products that I used for this, only the Designer Paper and the coordinating cardstock pack will be retiring. But the inks and cardstock that I used will still be around for at least one more year as they’re all in the upcoming 2019-2020 Stampin’ Up! catalog. If you’d like some of that luscious paper, though, it’s time to order it before it runs out!
Happy Stamping!
