I’m still making multiples of cards to send out to make sure there is Happy Mail in mail boxes of my friends and acquaintances. But every once in a while I come across a name on my list that makes me think about a specific stamp set. Today I’m going to share one of those with you.
The Missing Piece
I made this card for a friend who lives only part time near us in Hilo, Hawai’i. One activity she enjoys, even under normal circumstances, is working with jigsaw puzzles. So when her name popped up on my list, I had to go see if there was something I could do with the retiring stamp set, Love You to Pieces. This stamp set is all about jigsaw puzzles. But it wasn’t the stamp set that I ended up working with; it was the dies that go with it. The die set is called, appropriately, Puzzle Pieces. While it’s also retiring, I do believe that this is a die set that I shall keep in my collection!
One of the dies in the set is a square jigsaw puzzle, 4 pieces high and 4 pieces wide. When it first came out, a friend sent me a card with all the pieces inside. She’d written a note, and I had to put the pieces together to read the note. For this card, I cut a piece of paper from the Tropical Oasis Designer Series Paper set. Then I cut it using the puzzle die. Getting the puzzle pieces onto the Whisper White cardstock background was a bit on the tricky side. The reason was that, as soon as I touched one puzzle piece, two or three more would take it upon themselves to relocate. Herding cats.
The Missing Piece
But I got them all in, save one piece that I left out. Then I stamped the I Miss You sentiment where that piece should have been. I thought that was pretty clever, if I say so myself! And then I took the missing piece and glue that onto the Whisper White cardstock that I’d used to line in the inside of the Real Red cardstock card base. I like that! Can you tell I was smiling while I was doing this? This is why I’m keeping this die set. It really does make a clever card.
As I wrote this, I encouraged you to purchase this die set before it wold out. But by the time it was ready for me to publish, they had already sold out. Really – if there’s something on the retiring products list that you’d like to have, now is the time to order it! I’ve updated the list I have on my catalog page so you can see what’s still available. I hope what you want is!
Happy paper crafting, whatever you’re making!
