Fun With a New In Color!

June 26, 2019 by Robin

Aloha, all!

Today my focus is on one of the newest Stampin’ Up! In Colors, Terracotta Tile. Fun note here – texting your demonstrator friend generates a spell-check spelling of “terra-cotta.” Gotta watch that spell check!

For those of you who haven’t experienced this new In Color yet, here is a quick and simple bookmark that shows off the color in one of the sheets of the 2019-2021 6″ x 6″ In Color Designer Series Paper (DSP) Stack.

And here’s another fun note. My first impression was that the text in this paper was just gibberish to make a pretty script pattern. Not so! There are 6 words repeated throughout: “Stamp Ink Repeat” and “Inspire Create Share.” Both of those are quintessential Stampin’ Up! sentiments! I quickly die-cut two fern leaves using Whisper White Cardstock, mounted the decorated paper onto a strip of the white cardstock, punched the top using the Scalloped Tag Topper Punch, and finally added a bit of rope made with Whisper White Solid Baker’s Twine.

Finally, here is a project that I made following my personal challenge to use unused older stamp sets and dies. This card features a Terracotta Tile-based print from the Mosaic Mood Specialty DSP set. The “specialty” part of this paper is that one side of each sheet features a print with shiny accents. This print features roses and their leaves. The roses are Terracotta Tile and the leaves are Garden Green. That’s why I chose Garden Green Cardstock for the base layer for this card.

The puzzle pieces are from an older set of dies called (what else?) Puzzle Pieces. One of the dies is a 3-1/2″ square of interlocking puzzle pieces. I cut the DSP sheet using that die. Then I cut a piece of Terracotta Tile Cardstock 4″ square. I placed the 4 corner pieces of the puzzle straight in the corner of the cardstock, and then placed each of the other pieces at enough of an angle that it was obvious that the pieces were not all put together, but still showed that they’re a picture. Finally, I added at the bottom a sentiment from the coordinating Love You To Pieces Stamp Set which I punched out with the Classic Label Punch.

One other product that I really wanted to make a part of this card was the Terracotta Tile 1/2″ Scalloped Linen Ribbon. But 1/2″ was just a bit too large for the space I had available. So I painstakingly trimmed the Terracotta Tile part of the ribbon away from the 1/2″ piece. I wrapped one strip around the card front and then tied a bow with what was left. There are a LOT of mini glue dots under that ribbon to keep the Terracotta Tile side showing forward!

I have a couple of friends who always have a jigsaw puzzle going at their homes, and I need to visit both of them. I’ll have to send this card to one before too long!

I have been stamping and paper crafting for over 30 years, and have been an Independent Stampin' Up! Demonstrator for 14 years.

My favorite part of being a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator is teaching others to enjoy crafting themselves. Not only do I conduct classes in person, I write tutorials for teaching anyone who has internet access. No matter if you're in my area in The Villages in Florida or anywhere else in the world, let me know if there's something you'd like to learn! Read More…
