Aloha, all!
Here I am continuing with cards made with Stampin' Up! Designer Series papers that will retire at the end of next month (or will no longer be available once they're all purchased). I'm doing this to show you how some of the papers look as you're considering whether to stock up on them! I'm also doing my best to try to use up as much of these gorgeous papers as possible so I'll have room to buy NEW papers come June!
I made this card using two prints from the Designer Series Paper set, Venetian Romance. As with some of the other papers, I really haven't used this design enough! I also wanted to show off more than one sheet with a bit of a different layout, so I chose to make a grid of squares, and an easy way to do this is to weave strips of papers and then cut the whole design down to size. There are other ways to accomplish this (without just making a bunch of squares). But weaving allows some leeway for having slightly different strip widths. And I need that leeway because I'm just not that precise when it comes to the cutting part of my projects!
I cut one color of paper 6" long and 1" wide and the other 5" long and 1" wide. As I wove each row, I applied adhesive to keep the weaving strips in place. Just lift up a top, loose, piece and apply a small bit of adhesive underneath and then lay it back down. Once I had all the weaving done, I trimmed the pieces evenly so the whole woven layer was 5" x 3-3/4". Then I matted it with a piece of coordinating cardstock (Island Indigo) and adhered this to the card base made of Tangerine Tango Cardstock.
To decorate the front and provide a nice frame for the greeting, I used two sizes of the Deco Labels Framelits to cut Island Indigo Cardstock. I used the same cardstock to cut the "hi" from one of the dies in the Label Card Thinlits Die set. I applied both the frame and the greeting using Tombow Multipurpose Glue. I especially like using it with the small thinlits dies because I can make a really thin line of glue that won't spread out after I lay it down on the surface to which I'm adhering it.
To add a bit of an accent to the card, I used three small pearls form the Pearls Basic Jewels. I thought about using the Large Pearls as they're retiring. But they were just a bit too large for this project.
Now that I look at this card, I'm wondering why I haven't used more of this paper – that stone design is just lovely. You may be seeing more of it as I continue to clean out my stuff that's going away!
Besides today, there's still one more day when Stampin' Up! is offering FREE SHIPPING! Keep that in mind as you loo at the products below – showing off those that I featured in today's card – and consider buying them. Now's the time!
But whether you're buying now or just working with what you already have, I hope you're having fun with it!
