Aloha, all!
It's not only a new year, but it's a new month! The Stampin' Up! Only Challenge this week is to focus on the new month, not the new year! Every month is special in its own way, and most months have some colors that are associated with them. January's a bit different, though. Yes, we have some famous people to celebrate and occasionally we have (at least in the United States) a Presidential inauguration to celebrate. But where's the color?
I'll tell you where the color is for me – it's in the almost-here Stampin' Up! 2014 Occasions Catalog!. In fact, we'll only be into the SUO Challenge bi-weekly challenge for fewer than four days before the catalog will be ready for all of us to order some brand new Stampin' Up! Products.
And so much of it is GOLD! Now, not everything in this card is new in the Stampin' Up! 2014 Occasions Catalog. But it's all definitely current (as of the time this is written!
For starters, let's look at the new products that you'll see in the new catalog:
- Watercolor Wonder Washi Tape – and it's all gold! The circles that I've punched (all current Stampin' Up! punches) are all made up of the new Washi Tape that I applied to a sheet of Whisper White Cardstock. I laid down a few rows then picked out some variations on the designs with a variety of circle punches.
- Fancy Foil Designer Vellum. This vellum comes in both Silver and Gold, and I focused on the Gold. The vellum paper had either gold dots, gold hearts, or gold stripes. The stripes are diagonal on the paper, but I cut the sentiment for this card so that it's horizontal. I also punched the smallest circles out of the gold strip on this vellum.
To go along with these two new products, I pulled out some oldie-but-goodie Stampin' Up! products: Brushed Gold Cardstock; Gold Metallic Encore Ink; Loving Thoughts Stamp Set; Clear Embossing Powder; Large Scallop Edgelit; Stylish Stripes Embossing Folder (this is in the Stampin' Up! 2013 Holiday Catalog, but will not carry over as an active product as of January 2, 2014).
So my color for January 2014 is GOLD!! And what a wonderful color that is – I'm certainly going to have fun with it the rest of the winter and into the Spring!
What's your color for January?? Don't forget to make a project using it and enter it in the SUO Challenge!
Such a gorgeous card! I absolutely love it. Never would have guessed that was washi tape for the various circles. Stunning.
Beautiful! Love the use of the Washi tape on the circles. I really like that you have a special color each month…
