Aloha, all!
One thing I’ve noticed about my attitude towards losing our home and garden to the Kilauea Lava eruption earlier this year is that, when I read of a friend dealing with cancer – of any kind! – I realize how less awful my own loss is compared to what they’re going through. I learned yesterday that today, September 7, 2018, is “Wear Teal Day,” in honor of those who are dealing, or have dealt, with ovarian cancer. I’ve had several friends with this terrible disease. Some have survived, some have not. But all dealt with it with class and courage.
One thing I no longer have is anything to wear that has any hint of the color, teal. And Stampin’ Up! no longer has a color with teal in its name so that I could share a card with you. But what I did do is research the HEX and RGB colors related to teal, and found that one of Stampin’ Up!’s 2017-2019 has HEX and RGB that are pretty close – Tranquil Tide. So there was my teal color!
My next problem was how to get to my stamping space yesterday to make a card, with all that was going on at home as we were getting ready for my husband to take a trip this weekend. Well, of course! I have all these wonderful cards sister Stampin’ Up! demonstrators have been sending me all summer, and they’re mostly all photographed and ready for me to show off.
This card was part of a swap hosted by demonstrator, Susan LaCroix, made by another demonstrator, Sherry Tackett. It’s made with the gorgeous Share What You Love Designer Series Paper, with the delightfully perfect, Share What You Do Stamp Set. Sherry’s main accent color in this card is our teal look-alike, Tranquil Tide Cardstock, and accented with flowers stamped with Tranquil Tide Classic Ink on the card front and the sentiment at the bottom right.
For those of you who are at all interested in how I chose this color, the best HEX code that I could find for teal is 008080. The RGB is 0, 128, 128. Tranquil Tide’s HEX is 00816E and RGB is 0, 129, 110. So it’s fairly close!
If you manage to miss this year’s Wear Teal Day, you might considering wearing some teal yourself “just because.” And if, like me, you don’t have anything teal to wear, I’ll bet there are lots of places where you can order colored ribbon pins of all kinds of different colors. Go ahead and order yourself a Teal Ribbon pin. You’ll be all ready for next year’s Wear Teal Day – the First Friday in September!
