Aloha, all!
Indeed, I have still not recovered to my regular posting schedule. We're still in a bit of a stressful situation with the lava flow in our little town of Pahoa, Hawaii. By this time many of you have seen national news reports about what's happening. Actually, what's happening is happening VERY slowly! Sometimes that lava is on a roll and taking over lands and roads. Right now, it's just sitting around trying to decide what to do next. That's fine with me as it gives me a bit of time just to chill and do some paper crafting. And for that I am VERY thankful!
It turns out that "Thanks" is the theme for the current SU Only Challenge. Nice! I really do have quite a few people to thank for their help as we try to move away from the lava flow and become comfortable in a rental home several miles away from our own home. With the slow down, I don't have to go move stuff and I can make cards and even some scrapbook pages.
As I've mentioned before (somewhere, even if not here), I bought a ton of the Color Me Autumn Suite of products to make sets of cards to give as gifts on a trip we never did take. So I'd better start using some of it up! The current SUO Challenge has helped me with this. But I still had to come up with some design ideas. Going through magazines really helps with this!
I made this set of autumn themed Thank You notes based on a design idea that I found in the latest issue of Card Maker Magazine (Winter 2014). On page 47, there's a Note Stack using Washi Tape, and I immediately thought of the Color Me Autumn Designer Washi Tape, along with some of the other Color Me Autumn products.
The three designer Washi Tapes that I used on these cards are all from the Color Me Autumn Set. I loved trying to mimic the designs in the magazine with our Stampin' Up! Washi Tapes. I didn't have to try to find at least three of the punches that were used in the magazine's designs as they used Stampin' Up! Punches. The two current punches they used are the Scallop Oval and Modern Label Punches. The samples used the old Corner Rounder Punch, and I just substituted the Project Life Corner Rounder Punch. And then I added in some papers punched using the Decorative Label Punch. Both the color accent layers for each of the cards as well as the large punched elements on top of the Washi Tape designs were cut/punched from the Color Me Autumn Designer Series Paper.
For the decorations on my cards, I used the Fun Fall Framelits Dies and the Autumn Wood Elements Embellishments. It wasn't in the samples from which I CASEd these cards, but I just had to add some of the Regals Candy Dots to give a bit of another accent to each card.
I think that I should have most of my household and crafting items moved from my permanent home to my temporary home – away from the lava flow – by next week. I really thought I was done, but I keep finding more to do. But I'll really try to be a bit more active on my blog as the fall of 2014 matches on! So check back occasionally – I may have a real surprise for you!
Here are links to some of the products I used in today's projects. Just click on one of the pictures to learn more about – and even order! – the products!
Robin,
Good luck to you. I'm in NJ but saw your town on the news. I hope the lava never reaches your home.
