Aloha, all!
Today I was stuck about what to do to make a Thank You card that had to be a little bit on the "cute" side – not too elegant or serious. Sigh, what to do, what to do.
Then I happened upon an update on this week's challenge on one of my Stampin' Up! Demonstrator websites, SUDSOL (for Stampin' Up! demonstrators only). The update encouraged us to use such things as embossing folders, edgelits and sentiment stamp sets (all Stampin' Up! only, of course!) using the sketch.
Bingo! I had the idea for my Thank You Card in my head almost instantly. And this is such a simple card to make – when you have all the right tools, which Stampin' Up! does provide! – that I'm sure I'll make more!
There's one little trick for using the Designer Frames Embossing Folder without making an indentation where the edge of the folder connects with the card stock. I first arranged the top of the embossing folder so that it was just at the top edge of the Very Vanilla Card Stock layer. Then, when I ran this through the Sizzix Big Shot, I placed the card stock – with the embossing folder wrapped around it – into the Big Shot sideways, beginning with the folded edge of the embossing folder first. Then I ran it through the Big Shot ONLY until it got to the end of the embossed frame image. Then I rolled it back out the same way I'd rolled it in. (Hmmm, I may need a video for that?).
The piece of Very Vanilla Card Stock that's the top layer of the card is in two pieces. After I got the top piece embossed and the card stock rectangles placed in the embossed frame, I ran the bottom piece through the Fancy Fan Embossing Folder. I adhered both pieces to the Midnight Muse Card Stock mat, and then covered the cut edges with a strip of the Midnight Muse Card Stock cut with one of the Adorning Accents Edgelits.
The sentiment is from the brand new Stamp Set, Sassy Salutations. I stamped it on a piece of Very Vanilla Card Stock that's 1-7/8" wide. It just fits over the piece of Primrose Petals Card Stock that's 2-1/16" wide to fit inside the embossed frame. The height just has to be enough to fit under the Midnight Muse Card Stock strip. I tied it all together with some of the also brand new Primrose Petals 3/8" Stitched Satin Ribbon. That ribbon is SOOOO fun and easy to work with!
I adhered the whole card front onto a card base of Primrose Petals Card Stock. I just LOVE the new 2012-2014 Stampin' Up! In Colors – they go together so well!
Now to send off my "cute" Thank You Card!
