SUO Challenge – Going Green!

February 25, 2013 by Robin

Aloha, all!

I have to tell you that, no matter what time of the year it is in our part of Hawaii, it is ALWAYS GREEN!  We live in the rain forest part of the Big Island, that there are so many different kinds of greens that I'm not sure I could enumerate them all!

But in some parts of the world, as we come to the end of February, we are still dealing with lots of the white stuff – oh, yes, even in our lovely state at the mountain peaks! So it's fun this time of the year to remind ourselves that green and spring is just around the corner  So that is the theme for this week's Stampin' Up Only Blog Challenge – it's "Going Green"

Now with my Irish heritage (I come by my red hair naturally, though "natural" may be a stretch at my age) when I think of "Going Green," I think of St. Patrick's Day.  I have almost as much fun making cards for St. Patty's Day as I do for St. Valentine's Day!

While there certainly quite a few. colors of green in the Stampin' Up! collection of greens, the first one that came to mind when I decided to make this card was Old Olive.  I think I've just spent so much time with Lucky Limeade and Gumball Green that I wanted something different  You might recall that the last time I posted here, I mentioned that I was thinking about constructing a monochromatic card.  But I ended up mixing some colors up a bit.  This time the monochrome idea got the better of me, so here it is.  Now maybe I've got that out of my system!

I hope that you'll check out all of the other SUO Challenge Design Team projects for the Going Green theme.  Yes, there are some St. Patty's Day cards.  But there's a lot more than that, too.  I'm sure that you'll find something to inspire you – and I hope you'll make your own project and enter it in the challenge.  It's definitely a lot of fun!

Here's a quick recap of the products that I included in this card:

  • Scallop Square and 1" square punches
  • Got Treats Stamp Set
  • Old Olive Buttons
  • Rhinestones Basic Jewels
  • Lucky Limeade Baker's Twine
  • 1/8" Old Olive Taffeta Ribbon
  • Linen Thread
  • 1/2" Old Olive Scallop Dots Ribbon
  • Old Olive Patterned Paper
  • Old Olive and Whisper White Card Stock

I have been stamping and paper crafting for over 30 years, and have been an Independent Stampin' Up! Demonstrator for 14 years.

My favorite part of being a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator is teaching others to enjoy crafting themselves. Not only do I conduct classes in person, I write tutorials for teaching anyone who has internet access. No matter if you're in my area in The Villages in Florida or anywhere else in the world, let me know if there's something you'd like to learn! Read More…

Robin, this is a fantastic card! Love the sweet details and delicate nature of the elements you selected. The greens are so pretty in this monochromatic theme. So sweet with the little jeweled centers and tied buttons. Wonderful card!
