Aloha, all!
I've been really remiss in not featuring products from the Stampin' Up! 2016 Sale-A-Bration Catalog. But today, the SUO Challenge blog Design Team has forced my hand as the new challenge features Sale-A-Bration products. So here I am finally focusing on SAB!
It also happens that one of my best friends has a birthday tomorrow, and she loves when I've used some kind of special technique for her cards. And she loves gardening and the outdoors. What better set to use for her birthday card than the Flowering Fields Stamp Set from the SAB catalog! There's a sample in the catalog that lines up all the stamps colored in with Stampin' Write Markers that really caught my eye. So I decided to build on that idea and use what's called the "Spotlight" technique for her card.
I stamped 5 of the 7 images in the stamp set all in a row. Then I cut an Oval with a small Oval Framelit out of the center and just colored those flowers in, using Calypso Coral and Pear Pizzazz inks. The next step was to use the next larger framelit to cut a piece of Calypso Coral Cardstock, to which I adhered the stamped oval. I then attached that to the card front to complete the design.
For the sentiment, I brought out my Garden in Bloom Stamp Set, stamped it on Whisper White Cardstock using Calypso Coral ink and matted it with Calypso Coral Cardstock. There's also a mat around the stamped layer. I finished the project with a bow made of Calypso Coral Thick Baker's Twine, stamped Happy Birthday inside, and it's ready to give to my friend when we have lunch on Wednesday – to celebrate both our birthdays at lunch!
