Something Old and Something New!

April 30, 2013 by Robin

Aloha, all!

No, there's nothing about a wedding in this blog post!  But I'm showing off quite a few retiring Stampin' Up! products as well as one fairly new product.  And there are a few current products that will be carried on in the soon-to-be-released 2013-2014 Stampin' Up! Catalog.

First let's look at the new product that pushed me into this particular card layout:  the Best of Butterflies Stamp Set, that is one of the stamp sets that will be released each month in 2013, Stampin' Up!'s 25th Anniversary Year!  Once each set is released, it will be alive and well to purchase until March of 2014.  Click on the link on the right to see all the "Best of" sets that have been released so far – there will be a new one May 1st ( today for most of you reading this), and I can hardly wait to see what it is!

Now about those retiring products.  In order of how much I'll miss them, they are the Not Quite Navy Card Stock and Ink, the Riding Hood Red Card Stock, Ink, and 3/8" Taffeta Ribbon, and the First Edition Specialty Designer Paper.  When I decided to use a stamp from the Best of Butterflies set, I immediately thought of the butterfly theme in the First Edition Specialty Paper, and cut a piece so the image of a butterfly would show at one side of the card.  I liked this layout the best, though you could certainly try it out with the top layered element moved over to the left.

The products that will still be with us this next year are the Teeny Tiny Wishes Stamp Set, from which the "thinking of you" sentiment is taken; the two punches on which the sentiment is layered – the Word Window and Modern Label Punches; and the Very Vanilla Card Stock.

I adhered the small layered element using Stampin' Dimensionals, and then applied a Stampin' Dimensional to the left side of the Punched Layer, just applying some snail to the right side of the Punched Layer.  This keeps the whole Punched Layer on the same level as each other.

And here's something I haven't done in awhile!  I've created a sketch of this card for you to use if you'd like to try it out, with or without the butterflies!

Whatever you end up making in the next day or two, I hope you have fun with it!

I have been stamping and paper crafting for over 30 years, and have been an Independent Stampin' Up! Demonstrator for 14 years.

My favorite part of being a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator is teaching others to enjoy crafting themselves. Not only do I conduct classes in person, I write tutorials for teaching anyone who has internet access. No matter if you're in my area in The Villages in Florida or anywhere else in the world, let me know if there's something you'd like to learn! Read More…

Thank you so much for sharing. As a new SU demonstrator I have a lot to learn! I was said to see the newspaper print paper is all gone.

    Happy Stamping
