Sheltering Tree Thanksgiving Wishes!

October 14, 2016 by Robin

Aloha, all!

I have been so pleased to have the sentiments in the new stamp set, Basket of Wishes, especially one that I can use for a Thanksgiving Card to send to friends. In today's card, rather than use the "Thankful…" wish with the baskets in the stamp set, I paired it with the tree images from the Sheltering Tree Stamp Set.

I don't usually send out that many Thanksgiving cards, but I do like to send them to family as well as to friends I've not seen in a long time. So I usually send about a dozen or so. This is the second card I've made this year, so I'd better get on the stick before November gets here and I don't have enough time to get them done (on top of all those Christmas Cards I still have to make!).

I tried coloring the large "leaf" stamp that's in the Sheltering Tree Stamp Set using different Stampin' Write Markers. But when all was said and done, I liked just using one color on the large leaf stamp and then using the smaller dotted stamp to add different colors all over the tree. This card is a blend of both ways of doing this. The next one will just be the coloring in using the small stamp. I'll share that with you here when I make it, hopefully by next week.

As you might be able to tell with the various cards I've made this fall – for Christmas as well as for other occasions – I've gotten myself into a Crumb Cake Cardstock rut. OK, maybe it's not a rut as I'm not using it for every card. But it's that time of the year when there's more of an earthy color around areas where the leaves are changing color. And Crumb Cake (or, as it used to be known, Kraft) color works well with the fall colors. And then Stampin' Up! introduced the Warmth and Cheer suite of products, with Designer Series Paper that's filled with the Crumb Cake color. Cherry Cobbler and Garden Green go as well with Crumb Cake as do the fall colors of reds, rusts, golds and oranges! So a Crumb Cake card base it is!

To pick up the more orange colors in the fall tree, I added as a finished touch a mat made of Peekaboo Peach, along with a bow wrapped and tied with Peekaboo Peach 3/8" Ruched Ribbon. It definitely does bring out the color in the tree!

Here are links to the two stamp sets that I used in today's project, along with the ribbon. Click on the pictures if you're interested in buying any of these products from my Stampin' Up! store!
