Aloha, all!
My exciting news for today is that I've once again been invited to be a guest designer for Create with Connie and Mary – this time for their New Catalog Edition! Wow – I had almost the whole catalog to pick from to design my project, and I can hardly wait for you to see it!
But for now, as each of the Guest Designers is being introduced this week, we're featuring a greeting card made with NEW products from the 2012-2013 Stampin' Up! Catalog. And my card is showing off several! The Very Vanilla Card Stock that forms the card base isn't new, nor are those sparkly Basic Rhinestones. But everything else is!
OK – I know it's a LONG time until Christmas! But I've decided to really focus on Christmas Cards this year – even during the summer! – to make sure that there are no last-minute crash card-making sessions in Robin's Craft Room this December!
From the minute that I saw the new Stampin' Around Wheel, Cheerful Christmas, I knew I wanted to make it not just the background for a card – but the primary focus! Once I got it in my hot little hands, though, I realized that, to really make the messages and designs in the wheel effective, I'd need to make a card that's a tad wider than a standard 5-1/2" wide card. In fact, I ended up making this card large enough for an A10 business envelope! Now doesn't that make things easy when it comes time to find an envelope for a card with a strange size!?! The finished size is 9" wide by 3-1/2" high. The only down side to this size? I can only get one card base out of an 8-1/2" x 11" piece of card stock. Of course, I can get two cards out of a 12" square piece of card stock, so that's what I may be using for this card design going forward.
The other new products on this card are one of the sheets from the Be of Good Cheer Designer Series Paper set, and the coordinating Gumball Green 3/8" Stitched Satin Ribbon. Oooh, that's a long piece of ribbon! I hope I have more in that order of new catalog products that just arrived on my doorstep! It looks like I'll be using it a lot this season.
