Aloha, all!
I'm quite happy to continue to be using my brand new stamp sets from the 2015-2016 Stampin' Up! Catalog, especially the stamp I chose for this weekend's VC Rocks group blog hop. VC Rocks is a group of Stampin' Up! users that forms each May and continues to have fun online at a "Virtual Convention" throughout the summer.
The Remarkable You Stamp Set was actually the very first stamp set that I put on my Wish List when I first saw the new catalog online. My grandson's mother had just recently posted a fabulous photo of a yellow Calla Lily on Facebook, and I could just see the Calla Lily stamp in this set in bright Daffodil Delight ink.
Well, try as I may, I could not make the lilies look as nice as I wanted coloring it in. Rats! So I gave up and moved on to something else. Then an idea struck in the middle of the night (most great ideas do) and the next morning I stamped the lilies using Momento Black Ink on Daffodil Delight Cardstock. Just what I wanted! Well, not quite once I thought to make the stamp the centerpiece of an oval card I wanted to make with the Ovals Collection Framelits. I was inspired by the square card I'd made earlier in the week, and the oval seemed just perfect. But the original image was just a bit of the wrong shape and size. So I fussy-cut both lilies out and tied them together with a bow of Daffodil Delight 1/4" Cotton Ribbon. Now that was what I wanted.
The second part of my design idea was to make a frame, also of Daffodil Delight, and then show off one of the new Greetings Thinlits as part of the frame. A bit of texture in the background from the new Brick Wall Textured Impressions Embossing Folder and some Garden Green Candy Dots, and the card was done.
I hope not only that you've enjoyed my card for this blog hop, but that you'll take the time to visit some of the other hoppers in this group. Links to all of the participants are on the VC Rocks Home Page.

Oh Robin I just love to see shape cards. Great lilies. Very nice artwork
Robin, you have created a very special card — both in design and shape! I absolutely LOVE how you had the idea to stamp the lilies on the coloured card stock, cut out and make a great statement that way! Bravo! Chris
Lovely card, Robin. Glad you figured out how to get the flowers to be yellow enough.
Great job Robin! Thanks for coordinating our hops.
Oooh, I really love this card! The ovals and embossing really make the lilies stand out!
That is gorgeous! Love shaped cards, love the pop of yellow.
Lovely card… and such a nice shape to compliment the flower!
Robin, what a great card! This set is still on my wish list, but I may have to finally make a card base out of the framelits. Thanks for participating & setting our blog hop up!
I never would have considered yellow for the lilies. Nicely done!
This is a very pretty card. I never think of making cards oval or round, but I like it. I like the Daffodil Delight color too.
Just getting around to looking at the blog hop. Your card is so pretty. I have always loved the combo of yellow and white. The candy dots add just enough green too.
I love what you did with this card! I would love to share this on my blog for 'My Crafty Friends Monday' (a round up of amazing cards from amazing stampers!)! Please let me know if you would prefer that I didn't share it (of course I give you credit and link back to your blog!).
Inky Hugs!
