Aloha, all!
When I was packing away all my retired Stampin' Up! stamp sets last week, I realized that there were several of them that (gasp!) I.HAD.NEVER.USED! It's very likely that, as some of them were older, I had managed to obtain them through other than purchases. We get free stamp sets at Convention and there are promotions throughout the year some of which involve getting a free stamp set.
Nonetheless, I find it absurd that, with all the crafting that I do, there were stamp sets that sat unused in my craft room. So beginning with stamp sets from the newest Stampin' Up! Annual Catalog, I am NOT using any other stamp sets until I have used all my new stamp sets at least once. The good news is that I only bought 9 new stamp sets. Yes, that may seem like a lot. But I needed to fill some theme voids in my stamp collection. Oh, and there were a couple of new sets that I just couldn't pass up regardless of what I "needed."
I pulled out today's stamp set because I loved the latest Create with Connie and Mary weekly challenge, and I thought the wreath would be fun for one of the challenge's layer elements. The stamp set is Circle of Spring and it goes with a framelits set we've had in the Stampin' Up! collection since last fall's 2014 Holiday Catalog – Wonderful Wreath. The images that I cut out with the framelits are the wreath itself (it takes two to tango with this image!), the bow, and the small flower under the sentiment.
I stamped the wreath and the small single flower using Mossy Meadow Classic Ink, and I colored both in using the Stampin' Write Markers in two of our newest colors, Watermelon Wonder and Mint Macaron. I added a little bit of Daffodil Delight, but ended covering much of it up with the Daffodil Delight Candy Dots from the Brights Candy Dots Collection.
For the background, I cut two rectangles as called for in the challenge sketch, one using Watermelon Wonder Cardstock and one using Mint Macaron. I adhered them to the top Whisper White Cardstock layer and then texturized them using the brand new Brick Wall Embossing Folder. I had determined that the "Thank You" sentiment would just about fit inside one of the "bricks," so I waited until after I'd run the card front through the Sizzix Big Shot before stamping it. I love how easy it is to get Photopolymer stamps right where I want them!
After I adhered the wreath, using Stampin' Dimensionals, I added a bow to serve as the final element required in the sketch. I stamped the bow using Watermelon Wonder Ink onto Watermelon Wonder Cardstock, then cut it using the ribbon die from the framelits set. After adding the small single flower to the bottom right of the card using Glue Dots, I added several of the Daffodil Delight Candy Dots.
The last – and maybe best? – thing that you should know about this card is that the card base is not just Whisper White Cardstock. It is the brand new HEAVIER (100 lb wt) Whisper White Thick Cardstock, that's much better for card bases than the plain, lighter, Whisper White.
It's a fun sketch challenge over at Create with Connie and Mary, and it goes on for a week. You might want to try it out for yourself!

Robin,
I LOVE this card!! The colors are perfect. Using the embossing folder after you added the 2 strips of color was brilliant. I was putting off ordering this set but now I wish I hadn't. BEAUTIFUL!!
Such a pretty summer wreath Robin; I love how you stuck the coloured panels before running your panel through your Big Shot – it gives a really neat effect. I too cleared my sheves and found stamps I hadn't used – how does that happen? I still didnt prevent me from ordering more though! Thanks for joining us over at Create With Connie and Mary this week!
Oh my! This is so special! I just adore that wreath and how you did the embossed background! Beautiful card. Thanks for joining us at Create with Connie and Mary this week. 🙂
