Aloha, all!
It's getting closer and closer to the day that my three youngest grandchildren (and their parents, of course) come to visit. They'll arrive on Valentine's Day, and I plan on having a Valentine's treat for them when they get to our house after their long, long day of traveling!
But we have two older grandsons and they and their families will not be visiting this year. I certainly can't forget them just because they're not here, though! So I made valentines to send away to them (they're already on their way so they'll make it in time!)
One of the boys is a teenager and the other is not far behind. So hearts and flowers and ribbons and bows just weren't going to cut it for valentines for these young people. But grandmas do like to send cards to their grandchildren no matter how old they are! So I had to figure out something that kind of looked like a Valentine card without being, ya' know, mushy!
For this card, I stuck mainly with products that are in the 2014 Stampin' Up! Occasions Catalog. I used the Arrows Embossing Folder (item #132187) to give the front of the card some texture, and punched some complementary arrows up the right side of the card using the Chevron Border Punch (item #132154). Finally from the Occasions Catalog, I used one of the stamps from the Geometrical Stamp Set (item #133158). "Love You So" is pretty close to being Valentine-y, don't you think?!
The card base is Real Red Cardstock, and inside the card I placed a piece of Real Red paper from the Brights Designer Series Paper Stack. I arranged the zigzag design so that it seemed to be made to fit under those punched chevrons.
Inside I added a piece of white paper on which to write a valentine note and sign the card. And, of course, I added a little something green in there to go with the red of the card!
I always have fun making cards for my kids and grandkids! And having Stampin' Up! products around that I can use to express so many different feelings makes it all so easy! I hope that you'll consider visiting my online store if you'd like to order any of the products that I'e used here today! Even if it might be a tad too late for Valentine's day, there are lots of other events coming up for which these products will be perfect!
