Aloha, all!
I was so very happy to see my favorite Easter Stamp set from last year – Everybunny – carry forward into the current Stampin' Up! Catalog. There are so many darling images in it, and I didn't get to use it nearly enough last year. So this year I'm starting early – and easy!
Isn't thiis little girt bunny so VERY cute! But I have to tell you that my first instincts when starting out with a simple image like this is to decorate around it to "spiff" it up a bit. But then I thought to myself, "Self – Stampin' Up! makes these cute, simple images, why not just leave them like SU! makes them?" So that's what I did. With a bit of fun, though.
My first fun was to use the new Sizzix Oval Framelits to make the oval-shaped card. I used the largest framelit – which has a scalloped edge – for the card itself. I folded a standard sized card and then ran it through the Sizzix with the fold just above the edge of the framelit. Second, I took the next two sizes of the oval framelits and ran them through the Sizzix together cutting an oval shape out of Marina Mist Card Stock. I couldn't believe how close in width the resulting oval shape was to the Marnia Mist 1/8" Taffeta Ribbon. So of course I had to make a bow to add to the blue oval!
To make the little girl bunny a bit more colorful without coloring in her dress, I stamped the bunny image on a piece of the Sunshine and Sprinkles Designer Series Paper that's in the 2013 Spring Stampin' Up! Catalog. Then I cut out just the dress and glued it to the bunny with some Tombow Glue.
I used my Stampin'[ Write Markers to color in the rest of the image and I just think she's the cutest!
Oh, did I mention that this is my project for the Stampin' Up! Only Challenge this week??? Of course it is, and you are so very welcome to join in with the design team for the challenge! The challenge isn't just for Easter, either. There are lots of celebrations this time of the year, and whatever you celebrate, you're welcome to enter your favorite project! We are having such fun with all the projects that you enter in our biweekly challenges and can hardly wait to see what you enter this time around!
I'm going on a short trip this week. But as soon as I get back, you'll be seeing the rest of the images from this stamp set with some other ideas on how to make them simple but fun! So come on back next week and check them out!!
Robin, this is absolutely adorable!! I just might have to case it for one of my granddaughters.
I agree, I felt the same way, this is not my favorite as I like my Easter cards to be Christian but I love this set. I have used it for baby cards, birthday cards, just too cute!
