Aloha, all!
Those of you who follow me on Facebook may have read that I spent last weekend visiting a friend on the island of Maui. Said friend is also a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator and, as you might expect, we did a LOT of crafting during the weekend.
While one of the activities I was anxious to dig into was checking out all of the new stamp sets and papers and embellishments she’d preordered from the upcoming 2019-2020 Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalog, another was to help her use up some of her retiring stuff, too. Boy did we accomplish that!
Our first project is one that we CASEd (Copy And Share with Everyone) from another Stampin’ Up! demonstrator. At the moment I cannot remember who that demonstrator was. If I remember (or if someone else reminds me), I’ll share her or his name right here.
Anyway, this card caught our eye because it’s a pocket card that’s made with the same sized piece of cardstock as you would use to make a full-sized A2 card – 8-1/2″ x 5-1/2″. But, instead of folding it in the middle, we scored and folded our card at 2″ and at 6″. We folded the 2″ end up into the inside of the card, and folded the 2-1/2″ side down to overlap the folded up section. If you have been doing the math as you’re reading this, you’ll understand that the finished card is 4″ x 5-1/2″, just a tad shorter than an A2-sized card.
Here is the inside of the card. We used Tear & Tape Adhesive to adhere the sides of the 2″ folded end to the back of the card. The inserted piece of cardstock is 4-1/2″ wide by 3-3/4″ tall. This allows the insert to slide in and out of the pocket easily.
Now for the products we used to make this card. The background is Coastal Cabana Cardstock, and we used paper from the retiring Tea Room Specialty Designer Series Paper set. This set is still available to purchase as I write this. The “specialty” part of this paper is that it’s lighter than Stampin’ Up!’s usual Designer Series Paper, which has a nice heft to it. The sentiment is from the new Delightful Day Photopolymer Stamp Set. This will be available for purchase when the new catalog goes live on June 4, 2019.
The ink, both on the inside and outside of the card, is Coastal Cabana Classic Ink. We both decorated our sentiment differently, but we did like the Starburst Punch for the shape to accent this card. Did you notice that we rounded the corners of the front flap? We did this using one of the three sides of the Detailed Trio Punch.
The last really nice thing about this card is that, if you’re sending it to someone who just might be expecting something of a folding nature in a birthday card, you can slip that very nicely behind the inside card on which you’ve written your birthday note!
I have a few days free for crafting this coming weekend, too. So you’ll be seeing some more retiring papers as I say goodbye to them in (I hope) style!
Happy stamping!
