As I continue to look through my growing stash of Stampin' Up!'s Designer Series – or Printed – Papers, I'm starting to realize that I'm already running out of my first purchase of some of the sets. In fact, I think I'm about to open my third pack of the set, Comfort Cafe. One reason is that I decided early on that this was a favorite and I used it for swaps; swaps use up a lot of paper! But I haven't used it in awhile, so I decided to feature it in one of the challenges in which I frequently participate – a sketch challenge!
This is the sketch prepared for the weekly challenge in my online Stampin' Up! Demonstrator group, SUDSOL:
There is no particular requirement about how we're supposed to use these sketches, but I decided that I'd make a gatefold card rather than just decorate the front of a card that opens at the side or bottom.
One of the reasons that I really like the Comfort Cafe Paper Set is that I love all of the colors in this sheet (well, maybe not the brownish Soft Suede- but I consider that a background color anyway). So I tried to feature all of the colors in at least one mat on the card. For the two vertical elements on either side of the opening, I used Cajun Craze and Pool Party. I used these two colors for the center diagonal element, too, along with Summer Starfruit and Midnight Muse, with the Summer Starfruit card stock forming the the card base itself.
I used Midnight Muse Classic Ink to stamp the sentiment from the stamp set, Sassy Salutations. For embellishments I used a couple of Cajun Craze Brads, and some Very Vanilla 1/8" Taffeta Ribbon tied in knots on each side of the card front.
So that's my fun with color for the week! Oh, no, that can't be!! For sure I'll be dabbling in some color or another before the week is out. I'm just not sure at the moment which color or colors it's going to be. One thing's sure, I'm going to have a lot of fun with it – as I do with all of Stampin' Up!s colors. I hope you have the same kind of fun as this week draws to a close.
