Aloha, all!
One of my favorite papers from the Stampin' Up! 2014 Occasions Catalog is the one from the High Tide Designer Series Paper set with the starfish and other small images on it. As I did with the whale image on one of the other papers back in January, I used my trusty little Paper Snips and did a bit of fussing cutting of some Starfish images and attached them to the front of this card.
Oooh, and then I couldn't resist one of the scallops on the same sheet of paper! I think fussy cutting (that's what some stampers call it when you hand cut something out like this) just makes any paper pop a bit, even if you just adhere it with Mini Glue Dots, as I did with these little critters.
As you can imagine, as this is Friday, I made this card based on the sketch from the Sketch Frenzy Friday Team. This is a fun and easy sketch, and I really would have liked to have used the Banner Punch that was in the Sale-A-Bration catalog. But Sale-A-Bration is over, and this fun little punch isn't going to be available for you to purchase until the 2014-2014 Stampin' Up! Catalog is published at the beginning of June. So, as I like it to be possible for you to copy my projects if you wish, I decided instead to use the Triangle Punch, which is definitely still available for purchase!
As I love to pick up the colors from Designer Series Paper for my card bases as well as other cardstock layers in my projects, I chose Calypso Coral and Pacific Point Cardstock, the former for my card base and the latter for the first layer of the card. I also used the Pacific Point cardstock for punching the triangles and for a bit of a mat behind the stamped sentiment in the lower right corner.
It's actually been a while since I've used ribbon for a main element in a card, and I was happy to use the Summer Starfruit Stitched Satin Ribbon to complement the Summer Starfruit color in the Designer Series Paper..
I didn't need this card to be for any special occasions, but I did want to use the Modern Label Punch as I thought that was just the right size for a sentiment for this layout. So so I went looking for a sentiment stamp that worked with that punch and found one in the Too Kind Stamp Set. It was JUST the right size!
For a bit of extra pizzazz, I added some of the Calypso Coral Candy Dots to accent the punched elements. It was then that I wanted just a teensy bit more for an accent and cut that Summer Starfruist scallop image and adhered it to the sentiment.
It was ALL fun – the papers, the punches, the colors and the embellishments! I hope whatever you decide to work on this weekent will be equally fun!

Love, love, love it! So many great details!
Beautiful card Robin, it makes me think of summer, can't wait!
Your card is really very fun! I love the Seaside feel to it with the cute starfish and that great DSP. I used to be a coastal gal but now I am an inlander. Thanks for the warm memory.
