Aloha, all!
This morning I challenged myself to make a Valentine’s Day card for my adult son. With all the frilly, flowery stuff out there, I figured it was going to be a hard thing to figure out.
But then another kind of challenge came up–one of my online forum groups, SUDSOL, came up with a design challenge: Make a card with "Something old, something new, something borrowed, and something blue." Well, thought I; this has got to be easier than a Valentine’s Card for my dear son. So I rooted around in the bottom drawers where I keep stamp sets I’ve owned for awhile (all of them current Stampin’ Up! stamp sets, though!!). There with just a small bit of dust on it was one of my "old" favorites, Loads of Love. Now why haven’t I been using this set more?? Then I remembered that the leader of yet another online group to which I belong, Sandy Hancock of Udderly Awesome, had used this very set in a Valentine’s Card she’d just made!
Woo hoo!! Killed two challenges with one stamp set! At this point I had my "Something Old" – the stamp set; and I had my "Something Borrowed" – the idea from Sandy Hancock to use the set as a Valentine’s Card. Now I just needed the "Something New" and "Something Blue." That was a piece of cake, as I still had some of the new "Candy Lane" Designer Paper out from my Wednesday Stamp Club meeting, and I surely could come up with somewhere on this card I could use the "Something Blue." Aha! That lady driver (that would be me) could certainly use a blue dress. So I had my "Something New" – Candy Lane Designer Paper," and my "Something Blue" – the driver’s blue dress. Add a bit more "new" stuff–the stamp from "Love You Much" and a few hearts punched from the Heart to Heart Punch, and here’s my card!!! (Oh, and the colors throughout are Pretty in Pink, Very Vanilla and Riding Hood Red. A bit of Going Gray and Basic Gray on the truck’s trim and tires round it off.)
