Aloha, all!
Welcome once again to a project that I made using this week's Sketch Frenzy Friday challenge!
It's so nice to have a beautifully simple challenge that can show off a single color so well. For this Thank You card, I used Stampin' Up!'s lovely blue, Marina Mist. What ties the elements of this card together nicely is the use of the scallops in both the scalloped circles and the scalloped edge of the top layer of Whisper White Cardstock.
I used the 1-1/4" Scalloped Circle Punch to cut the flower from the Best of Flowers stamp set, and the 1-3/4" Scalloped Circle Punch to cut the Marina Mist cardstock mat behind it.
For the scalloped edge of the top layer, I first cut the edge using the scalloped Adorning Accents Edgelits, and then I embossed a plain scallop just inside the cut edge using one of the Adorning Accents Embossing Folders. (In general, it's best to do the cutting first and then do the embossing. If you do it the other way around, frequently the embossed area will be flattened to the point that the embossing almost disappears.)
I followed the Sketch for this Friday pretty closely, including placing the stamped Thank You from the Lots of Thanks Stamp Set in the lower left corner of the top layer. This nicely balances the stamped and punch element that lies where the edge of the Whisper White layer meets the Marina Mist layer.
And, of course, that Dot of Color! It's nice to have just a touch of some color other than the main color in this kind of a monochrome greeting card. I chose a small Cruhed Curry Button from the Regals Designer Buttons Collection. I "tied it together" with the rest of the project with some White Baker's Twine.
I do hope you're enjoying the projects that I've been making as part of the Sketch Frenzy Friday challenge Design Team! Of course, as with most challenges, we'd love for you to enter one of your own projects in our challenge at http://sketchfrenzyfriday.blogspot.com/.
